        Re: Last Airbender (Superbowl) trailer

i never got into the series/cartoon, but i've only heard good things from the young and the seasoned alike..

but the fact that this movie is under M. Night Shyalaman's direction.... makes me a bit uneasy.. other than the Sixth Sense, everything he's touched has died a gruesome death.

I actually take some solace from the fact that he's just directing this, rather than written it. He has a way with film, the problem is that his own stories just suck. So I think he may do OK with this one.

Well the series plot is strong enough to stand up to quite a lot of messing (IMO), but he'd be stupid to actually tinker with it too much - and given whats in that trailer it looks pretty faithful.

Looks good, but trailers are designed to do that.

Still a bit wary of Shyalaman's directing abilities.

Especially after the string of "what the hell did I just watch?" films he's done recently.
Hoping Airbender takes my breath away rather than make me hold it.

Same here, his ideas for movies are good, but his final products aren't that great. I think the Village was his best.

I've never seen any of Night's films, so I'm no authority to talk, but the plot of Avatar is robust enough I think to handle the occasional questionable directorial decision.

I just saw the commercial like 15 - 20 minutes ago and I cannot believe how awesome that looked. I. Cannot. Wait! I'm so seeing this, but a part of me is kinda worried because it's an M. Night Shyamalan movie and his last couple of movies sucked big time
