  • Disney DVD- what's left in the vault?

I was curious about which Disney Movies haven't yet been released on DVD.

For example, has Sword and the Stone been released?
    The Black Cauldron?

What movies haven't been available yet?

Song of the South for one, and I want to say Sword in the Stone has been released on the DVD format. Black Cauldron was, but it was a very stripped down version with no real special features.

I dunno about Make Mine Music or Saludos Amigos or any of those ones.

'Saludos Amigos' has been released. I have it. I don't know if it's still out there.

I believe 'Black Cauldron' is out there, too.

'Song of the South' you can get on eBay. But I think it's only VHS and it's in PAL which people usually convert for you depending on the auction.

I have Song of the South on DVD. It was released in Japan and England. I have one of them but I can't remember what country its from. All I know is that it works just fine on a US DVD player and its in English with no subtitles.

Actually there is a online company that sells it in DVD format for like $19.95.

there have been rumors of song of the south being released on DVD in 2006- I don't know how much truth there is to that.

actually, Tarzan was technically in the "vault" and was re-released a few weeks ago.

There are many disney movies that have yet to be released in DVD format... I don't know all of them but Johney Trumain is one of them... There are also a few others that where made for TV that would be nice to be converted to DVD as well... Like Johney Shiloh staring Moochie...

I also wish they would re-release Peter Pan as a Masterpiece Collection series... But I am afraid Disney has been in a battle over rites with the Children's Hospital in London that still owns it... The battle involved sequels...

I would like to see every Silly Symphony put onto DVD, including Santa's Workshop and The Night Before Christmas.

Actually, you should be happy to know that Johnny Tremain was recently released on dvd! Check Amazon.com.

Not to plug another site, but www.ultimatedisney.com is a really good resource and has a release schedule available.

Most of them already were. Disney released them with the first batch of Disney Treasures DVD collections. They were numbered limited editions. Your best bet is to look on eBay.

I would love to see a "Silent Classics" release that includes the Alice Comedies and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. I don't think Disney has the rights to Oswald--they were sold to Walter Lantz decades ago. I don't know if they ever got them back.
