  • Will Mike, Sully, Woody and Buzz go Disney?

If Disney does in fact purchase Pixar, will all Pixar characters become known as Disney characters, and be welcomed into the Disney fold fully, or will they still be known as Disney-Pixar or even Pixar? I mean, it is very easy to tell that they are Pixar, but Pixar characters have crossed over in various things with Disney characters. I personally think it would make sense for people to officially refer to them as Disney characters, but I can imagine and understand people who would think it blasphemous for such innovative creations to be classed as 'Disney' - there are still people who think Disney is rather 'common'.

i don't think it would make that much a difference since those characters are pretty much completely disney when they are marketed anyway. Disney getting Pixar would only make them "officially" disney when they've been "disney" all along anyway.

it's basically Angelina's kids getting "officially" adopted by Brad

I think they're basically considered Disney characters even now. I think they may still have a Pixar label of some kind, but they're very well accepted into the Disney character family.

A more interesting question for me is, will Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, etc. ever be considered Disney characters in the future?

I bet if you went out and started asking people what they think about the merger they'd be puzzled. I don't think many people realize that Pixar is not already a piece of Disney.

I don't think the Muppets will ever be fully Disneyfied. I mean, even the forthcoming Americas Next Muppet and the Muppets Wizard of Oz movie were made by the Jim Henson Company even though the Muppets are/were by that time Disney property.

The general public may consider the Pixar characters Disney, but that doesn't make it so. Pixar created each and every one of them. Disney only markets them and puts them in their parks. If Pixar is ever bought by Disney, then they can officially be called Disney characters. Of course being the most percise you would call them Disney charactes created by Pixar.

It's funny because this is the exact opposite of the Pixar situation. The Muppets are fully owned by the Disney Company but are mainly thought of as Jim Henson characters. I think this is mainly due to the fact that Disney has not been as closely associated with The Muppets as they have been with the Pixar characters. In years to come, I'm sure people will think of Kermit and Piggy as always being Disney characters.
What if the Hokey-Pokey really is what it's all about?

I've been wondering about this a lot lately. I've heard many MiceChatters decry the "Pixar-fication" of the parks, DCA especially. Now that they're more than just Disney's intellectual property, will Pixar-fication increase? And since it's now owned by Disney, is it more acceptable to anyone?
