  • For those of you Disney VHS Owners...........

For those of you who have most of the Disney animated mastepieces on VHS from the 80's and 90's, do you go ahead and buy the rereleased and remastered DVD's when they come out even though you technically already have it on VHS?

Definitely, I get every one of them once they come out on DVD, too. Although, if I buy the DVD and then a special edition one comes out, I don't get that twice.

depends on which film and how much I like it. My favorites that I know I will watch i deffinitely pick up the special editions (I'm a sucker for special features). I don't usually buy multiple DVD editions though.

Me too. I see it that I'm buying them, not only for myself but for my future children whenever I have them. My parents can keep the VHS tapes if they like. But I must say, I currently have Lady & the Tramp on DVD (with no special features or anything) that I got for free (through one of those buy 3, get one free specials they have in some of the DVD's) and I really want the one that is coming out on Tuesday so I think I'll be giving my version to either my parents to a child that I know of. I love getting the special features.

Our VHS copies suck pretty bad. And most are not widescreen.
I have a family member who gets all the bells-and-whistles special editions, so we just get the movie, if possible. If I want to see the extras, I'll borrow them.

Of course! Especially if they're special editions with extras on them. I'm so glad that Disney got a clue and started doing that, as opposed to how they were releasing DVDs originally.

Dang! Saw this post and thought I was sitting on a gold mine for a second!

Depends on how much I really enjoy the movie or not... Alladin, Lilo and Stitch, ENG, Lion King... the list goes on...

Yes. But like HarryB, I only buy the ones I like. Although I didn't buy Bambi, but that doesn't mean I won't. That reminds me, I need to go get Lady and the Tramp. Bye............

I do, anything to get rid of those tapes. They also don't have extras like dvd's do.

                        VHS to DVD = yes
DVD to Special Edition DVD = Depends on the movie

Re: For those of you Disney VHS Owners...........

Since I have a limited budget for building my collection, I usually opt to buy a film I don't already have, on DVD. The exception being Sleeping Beauty, since it's my favorite.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

I have many Disney movies on VHS but stopped getting VHS after "The Little Mermaid" was re-released. Now I get the DVD's, but like everyone else, I will not get the same movie, unless if it has some really fun special features.

I only buy Special, Platinum, and Masterpiece edition DVD's. I'd get them for the special features alone. Anything that can change your perception of a classic or cause you to appreciate it even more is worth it IMO.
