  • What About Brian

Am I the only one who absoluetly loves this show?
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

ABC's 'Brian' is a nonstarter Monday

NEW YORK -- After a so-so premiere Sunday after "Desperate Housewives," ABC's new drama "What About Brian" crashed and burned in its regular time slot Monday. "What About Brian" came in third in a three-way race at 10 p.m., according to preliminary ratings estimates from Nielsen Media Research. "Brian" averaged 7.1 million viewers and a 3.2 rating/8 share in the adults 18-49 demographic, Nielsen said. It was a far cry from a night earlier, when it averaged 12.8 million viewers and a 5.6/14 after "Housewives" and in place of "Grey's Anatomy" at 10 p.m. Sunday. But like Sunday, which saw declines in audience between 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., Monday's "Brian" viewership also fell. (Paul J. Gough)

It's too bad, the show's pedigree is good on paper: J.J. Abrams is Exec Producer, solid cast, good writing, etc. but in an age of reality/game shows devouring networks left & right it's doesn't seem to be enough anymore. "Love Monkey" (similar in basic concepts) from CBS lasted only a couple of aired episodes. VH1 is airing the final shows, next one is tonight at 9PM.

I honestly wanted to like this show, but after two episodes, I'm out.

It's well written, beautifully shot, but I'm just not up for a solid hour of angst every week.

WOW - you've got powerful friends, good job!
That last episode was such a heartbreaker but it'll be great to see where they all go from there.

11 new series, fewer 'Lost' repeats on ABC
Spring tryout What About Brian, from Lost producer J.J. Abrams, will return, and the Mission: Impossible III director has a third show in the lineup: Six Degrees, about interconnected lives of New Yorkers.

              Re: What About Brian

with my schedule the way it is, it's hard to remember what shows are on & be able to be somewhere with a tv when they are on. it's especially hard in this age of constantly re-jiggered network schedules. it's a shame that they only give shows a couple of episodes before they yank them. it takes me a few weeks just to get the schedule into my head.

for this year, i have wednesday nights. i make damn sure i'm at a tv for alias & lost. hopefully next year i can settle down & get into some new shows.

                    Re: What About Brian

this show reminded me a 30 something back in the 80's lots of angst among a set of friends. instead of what about brian they should have called it 20 something. I watched one episode because I like the actors and decided it wasn't worth my time but I am 40 something and not the demographics they are aiming for. when advertisers and the networks realise that people over 35 watch tv. then I might watch more network television. right now the only network that has it anywhere near right is cbs and they are becoming monatonous.

I like the show. It was pretty decent. The girl that Brian was in love with, don't know if anyone knows this, but she was in Saved By The Bell: The New Class. She had blonde hair back then. And am I the only one thinking, that if it was still on Monday nights, it be kind of "The Battle of the Arquette Sisters" with Patricia's on NBC?

They do need to move it to another night, unless Fox moves 24. Because it just can't compete with it.
