I don't know... Disney didn't make it.. j/k Universal is a very good company also, I think it would be better if Disney did it.

"Brought to life for the first time ever"! What????

I guess they never heard of "Song of the South". A much superior movie by Walt Disney, but not seen in this country for many years, thanks to the short sighted NAACP. And they have never seen it either, they just don't like the way colored people were portrayed. They were happy. They sang songs. The hero was a black man, The villains were the white trash kids. I am so sick of everyone trying to be so "Politically Correct" all the time. So afraid we are going to hurt someones feelings. Grow Up!! Get over it and stop trying to change history to suit your "Feelings".

          Re: Brer Rabbit movie link

          From SNOPES.COM:
The NAACP acknowledged "the remarkable artistic merit" of the film when it was first released, but decried "the impression it gives of an idyllic master-slave relationship". Disney re-released the film in 1956, but then kept it out of circulation all throughout the turbulent civil rights era of the 1960s. In 1970 Disney announced in Variety that Song of the South had been "permanently" retired, but the studio eventually changed its mind and re-released the film in 1972, 1981, and again in 1986 for a fortieth anniversary celebration. Although the film has only been released to the home video market in various European and Asian countries, Disney's reluctance to market it in the USA is not a reaction to an alleged threat by the NAACP to boycott Disney products. The NAACP fielded objections to Song of the South when it premiered, but it has no current position on the movie.

BTW, I think the new film looks pretty good.

I meant the movie's TRAILER/SITE weblink. I already knew about the direct to video DVD and about the link you provided above. HOWEVER, it is now CLOSED. Which is why I started this thread because I didn't see a trailer or official website for this movie on that other thread.

                    Re: Brer Rabbit movie link

^ I think they were just announcing the big name celebrities who voice thw characters. Probably no body would know who the voice actor for Brer Bear would be.

                    http://imdb.com/title/tt0493201/

According to the link, the Brer Bear voice actor is the same actor who plays Stevie's dad in "Malcom in the Middle". You may know what he looks like, but people won't recognize the name. I think that's it. Studios use celebrity's names to advertise their movies. Does that make sense?

Well, maybe if Disney would stop pretending it exists...

Isn't that what Disney did by making Song of the South in the first place? :whistling

Ewwww it looks terrible though all of Disney's movies that go straight to DVD are. Geez they have to ruin a classic story.... and act as if SotS never existed. I'm really starting to hate Disney.

This movie was on our Comcast on demand movies about a month ago. I was not that impressed. It's a great concept w/ all the characters voiced by african american actors but the animation was only so-so and the stories seemed forced some how.
