  • Holiday Films: Old and New

Ok, its holiday time and we are all enjoying our favorite Christmas movies.

So let's name some of our personal favorites, but with a twist.

Name as many as you like, but at least one has to be a classic (say more than 25 yrs old) and one has to be modern (less than 25 yrs).

For me, starting with 3 each

    Classics

    Its A Wonderful Life

Christmas Carol (the classic Sim version from 1951)

Miracle on 34th Street (the original and best version)

    Modern

    A Christmas Story

    Polar Express

    Elf
ďAny sequel three or higher..... around number five they get a new cast, thatís when the magic really happens": Modern Family

    Classics -

    Miracle on 34th Street

    It's A Wonderful Life

Christmas In Connecticut - the original with a young Barbara Stanwyck and Sidney Greenstreet among others. Rent this if you can find it. A highly underrated old Christmas Classic.

    Modern -

    Polar Express

I'm sure I'll think of others...

                Classical:

White Christmas (My family watch it religiously every year on Christmas day.)

                Modern:

I have no idea, I like the classics I guess and some of those 80's movies everyone is mentioning could be considered classics now a days.

Christmas Carol, any version is fine with me.

Polar Express. This movie is the best of the new bunch of which most are sappy love stories for women that have Santa's daughter or son or nephew all trying to take over the family business and live a "normal" life. And trying to marry and all that syrupy stuff. Kids don't care, they want to know about Santa.

Agreed. I would also like to add the first two Home Alone movies.
