ROB RICHARDS and RALPH WOLF in concert

    El Capitan Theatre
Saturday Morning, January 13 at 8am

Saturday morning, January 13, the El Capitan returns to its historic roots as a live performance theatre, with a nostalgic musical program.

The El Capitan's resident organist Rob Richards is the featured artist at the console. Sharing the stage in special duet presentations is Ralph Wolf, 88, legendary Hollywood pianist.

Richards has played the El Capitan Mighty Wurlitzer since its premiere in 1999. In addition to his international concert schedule, he has performed over four thousand performances at the El Capitan since 1999, playing the historic Wurlitzer pipe organ originally installed in San Francisco's Fox Theatre. Richards recorded and released a CD on the El Capitan organ in 2004 to glowing reviews. It was the first commercial recording of the organ in forty years.

Richards was named 2005 "Organist of the Year" by the American Theatre Organ Society, coinciding with his thirtieth year of concerts and the Society's 50th anniversary.

Ralph Wolf, 88, has a performance career spanning seven decades! An Indiana native, Hollywood beckoned in the 1940s, leading to musical film appearances for Universal Pictures, and recording for MGM Records. Also notable was his association with the Walt Disney Company, as rehearsal pianist for the original Mickey Mouse Club in the 1950s.

Mr. Wolf will be playing a state-of-the-art Roland digital grand piano.

In addition to the pipe organ and piano, Richards will accompany an early Disney silent film as part of the program.

The concert is part of the annual "Wurlitzer Weekend" event, presented by Southern California chapters of the American Theatre Organ Society.

The concert is scheduled to begin promptly at 8 am, concluding at 9:15.

Tickets are available at the El Capitan box office. Doors open at approximately 7:30 a.m. The historic El Capitan Theatre is located at 6838 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood CA.
