  • Live 8/Live Aid II

    So it looks like the second Live Aid, named Live 8 in honour of the G8 summit, will be coming in June/July sometime. I wasn't alive when the first concerts went out, but I am very excited about these. So far, the line up for the UK and USA concerts are rumoured;

    UK
    The Spice Girls
    Natasha Bedingfield
    U2
    Elton John
    Joss Stone
    Robbie Williams
    Madonna
    Paul McCartney
    Coldplay

    USA
    Beyonce (on her own)
    Destinys Child
    Alicia Keys
    Usher
    Eminem
    Bob Dylan
    Tina Turner

It is expected that quite a few performers at the original Live Aid will return, probably for nostalgic purposes. The UK concert will be free, and will be at Hyde Park in London. Dunno where the USA concert will be, but both will be simulatonous like the last one. Any thoughts? Any performers I missed out?

The only other act I've heard about was Joss Stone in the UK.

Not that I want to pick out curtains or anything."

Supposedly, the Spice Girls won't be a part of Live 8 because "their style of music did not fit in with the serious political message about world poverty the transatlantic event hopes to portray."

... but somehow, Destiny's Child does?? This may be the middle school-er in me, but I'd rather see a Spice Girls reunion.

The USA location is once again Philadelphia. If I heard them correctly it will be near the Art Museum. Also there is going to be five countries this time around not just US and UK.
Ooo, heaven is a place on earth.

Tickets for the London show are free, but they're doing a lottery system drawing for them. So there's still a 50/50 change of not getting tix. Good luck though! I'll be here being mega jel!

I just can't believe some of the American acts performing in London. Shouldn't they be in Philadelphia? Not that I'm complaining!

Hey, Geldof announced at the press conference that the previous statement that the Spice Girls were not rock and roll enough was untrue. He had spoken to the Spice Girls on the morning of the press conference and he said "Things are looking good". They should be one of the surprise acts.

Well, if they Timed them Right, One would make a great Bathroom break and the other would be a great time to hit the snack bar!

Sir Geldolf is an outspoken oppenant of Studio fabricated Boy/Girl Bands who need to lip sync to get through a set. I Agree. Destiny's Child hasn't been caught Lip Syncing.....yet...
