  • Disney returns to hand-drawn animation

    Link

It will be Walt Disney's first foray into traditional, two-dimensional animation -- the medium that propelled the company to prominence under its founder and namesake -- since the 2004 effort "Home on the Range," which fizzled at the box office.
Not sure if this is a dupe or not-

Sounds good to me - and for the record - I liked Treasure Planet.

My son used to do 2-D at his old job. Too bad he can't work for Disney!!!

It's about time, I was just about to give up all faith in Disneys animation department.

Both of those facts are in the article.

Wow. I wonder how many times Disney is going to make the news with this before they just have a big media event?

Awesome! Bryan was just asking me the other day when Disney was going to do a 2-D. Cool!
"But every night, when it gets dark
                      and the stars come out,
I'll look up on her behalf.
I'll look up in the sky and think of you."

Thank goodness if this is true. The whole novelty of CG has worn off for me.
There is no right or wrong in this debate. It is simply a matter of perspective.

Ditto. I'm looking forward to Ratatouille, simply for the humor and depth Pixar puts into their films, but frankly I hope the next batch of Shreks will fail so badly and oversaturate the public so much that animation studios will be begging their old pencil-savvy staff to take their jobs back.

People still need a Lion King every once in a while. Not just "new innovations in bouncy hair animation technology".

So yes, I'm really looking forward to the Frog Princess. Loving the New Orleans theme.

OH HOW GOREGOUS!!!! I <3 the concept!

I'm so glad they are going back and doing 2-D again... 3-D is great, but you can't give up on the classics... I can't wait for Ratatouille to come out too!!!

Note: I must see Treasure Planet... was not a fan of Home on the Range.
