  • Kronk's New Groove

Some screen caps and brief plot synopsis at this site...
    http://www.ultimatedisney.com/forum/...pic.php?t=9082

Looks like it'll be 2D, not 3D (WHOOHOO!), direct to video rather than a theatrical release and will have the original voice talent. Hope they do a decent job with it!

No matter what, I'm going to get it. I love TENG. One of my all time Disney favorites. I hear all the voices are back.

      Oh yeah, I'm feeling it.

Wooo Hoooo! This is going to be great!
Anything listed on the park maps as an attraction is fair game for inclusion in the Rally.
I cannot confirm nor deny the inclusion of any attraction in the Rally.

May the Gumballs Be with You...Always.

      NO GOATS!

As much as I love The Emperor's New Groove, and especially Kronk, I just don't think this movie will strike comedy gold like the original. One of the things that made Kronk so funny was the fact that his incompetence frustrated Yzma to the point where he impeded her plans. She was the so-called "straightman" that typically make stupid people hilarious in films and TV. Think of it like Cousin Larry and Belki in 'Perfect Strangers': one was always so serious and the other incredibly wacky. It's this kind of bouncing off another actor that makes people like Kronk funny.

I also liked that the emperor in the original was a multi-dimensional character. He didn't turn over a new leaf instantly like so many typical kids films. He was spoiled rotten and refused to be anything different until he finally saw Pacha's unconditional support time after time again. Pacha's support for the emperor was totally believable thanks to the incredibly talented John Goodman...very, very few people could've pulled that role off with just their voice.

I really hope Disney does this one justice and not just create another mindless sequel. Not making it 3D is a step in the right direction though.

Is there anything on this menu that's not swimming in gravy?

Who did Disney outsource the animation to? If it is anywhere near the quality of the laters Pooh releases I shall stay away.

                According to this site...

...Disney Feature animation is doing it. What that means for the quality - I have no clue. Guess we'll just have to wait and see, eh?

                      Ya, wierd.
Marge: Barnacle Bill's Home Pregnancy Test? Homer, shouldn't we have gone with a better-known brand?
Homer: But Marge, this one came with a corn-cob pipe!
Marge: [reading from the test box] "Ahoy, Maties! If the water turns blue, a baby for you! If purple ye see, no baby thar be!"
Homer: So, which is it? Blue or purple?
                      Marge: Pink.
                      Homer: D'oh!
Marge: "If ye test should fail, to a doctor set sail!"

There are sooo many good quotes from TENG! I hope they got the same writers for KNG.

                            Most likely Disney Toon Studios.

And yes, I was excited to hear it was the same voice cast so that offers me some glimmer of hope for this thing. However, I'm not too fond of the fact that this is one of the 2D style animation that will be released this year that I learned from the shareholder's meeting. The other was Tarzan II and I believe the other is Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch.

I really wish they would continue to create new characters and stories instead of dwelling in the ones already created. But apparently us older veiwers can't get enough of our favorite characters and we are the ones who want to know what happened after Happily Ever After. I think not Mr. Eisner. :ap:
