  • Adventure Thru Inner Space is back in style!

    Miniaturization is back in style...

20th Century Fox and Roland Emmerich are remaking "Fantastic Voyage", the 1966 epic that bears more than a passing resemblance to Disneyland's classic 1967 Tomorrowland ride, Adventure Thru Inner Space. A crew is miniaturized to enter a man's bloodstream on an epic hallocinogenic adventure.

Now those who have said this theme's days have passed will have to take note. Should Disneyland go on another Adventure to tie-in?

I would say YES!!!!! But, if it's Fox that is doing the movie, then no. If Disneyland made another ATIS then people would say that they are just copying the movie's idea of shrinking people.

Which happened in the 60's already... ATIS was always described as "like Fantastic Voyage" back in the day.

James Cameron is also involved in the Fantastic Voyage remake - - they should give Raquel a cameo.

Adventure Thru Inner Space was a unique attraction in Disneyland in that is was so completely design, effects and psychedlia oriented. A entirely non-literal kind of experience. The park really benefitted from that.

James Cameron is involved in the remake? I assume that it's going to be shown exclusively in 3-D and filmed with his crap cameras then...

I don't much call ATIS a comparison with Fantastic Voyage these days... I'm more likely to compare it to Body Wars if I were to compare it to a ride.

Sadly, Body Wars was a far less convincing illusion and experience.

I rather agree... it tried too much to copy the Star Tours success and sort of failed at it. Plus, I found the storyline to be a bit lame...

Besides, it didn't have the growing insanity and the freakishly huge eye.

ATIS is my favorite ride that I've never rode.
