  • Pirates of the Caribbean "4"?

Will there be another Pirates of the Caribbean?

I realized it highly speculative, I've have not seen an official statement either way. I have heard Bruckheimer is not interested. But I don't know if it's true.

Any real authentic information on the prospects of POTC continuing?

While there is no official statement as of yet, a Pirates 4 is extremely likely.

Both Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush have expressed interest in it.

I saw Gore Verbinski (and I believe also Jerry Bruckheimer) in interviews saying they'll give it a little time and wait to get a good enough script.

If they can get that, they'll most likely do it.

I really hope not. As much as I've enjoyed the films, too many is just going to be buzzkill.

I think you are may have something. The question may very well be "should they" as opposed to "could they".

Rumor is, there will be a Pirates 4, but it will be a different storyline.

Expect to see Jack and possibly Barbossa, but don't expect to see Keira Knightly or Orlando Bloom. At least not in lead roles.

I heard there will definately be a 4th movie - but not the fountain of youth storyline as we would expect - the map that Jack took goes to something else and it's something much bigger - Kiere Knightly will not reprise her role, Orlando Bloom is a maybe - Johnny Depp has already stated he wants to do a 4th movie (information coming from the writers)

I don't think they should. The third film kinda pushed things close to pirate over kill in my opinion.

If POTC 4 does come out there won't be a buzzkill for me.

prequel to the black pearl is good too that would also mean davey jones has to be in this movie and alos tia dalma as well.

                        Not nessisarily.

There are several prequel stories they could do that wouldn't require Davy Jones' presence, or Tia for that matter.

By the time they actually make another one it won't be buzzkill. I'm sure Indiana Jones was tapped out by the time of 3, but now I'm really looking forward to the new one.

Totally agree with you. I have high hopes for the next Indy...

And I have high hopes that we haven't seen the last of great pirate movies.

I dissagree...the Indiana Jones films came out many years apart from each other and didn't totally flood the market. The pirate films have come out in rapid succesion and came along with a huge merchandising blitz that keeps it "in our faces" even when the films are no longer in the theaters. There is a big difference between the two franchises and how they were released.

I just think that is one minor downfall to the current trend of shooting sequels back to back and pumping film franchise releases out in rapid fire fasion, it makes it easier to over kill the subject.

I understand I am in the minority here, no problem. I like the first two films and I am kinda shoulder shrugging the third. I like Johnny Depp's work very much, but I am getting tired of seeing that character, and others in the series, over and over again.
