  • Any Lorrie Morgan Country Music Fans Out There?

I know little about Lorrie Morgan other than the fact that she is a country music star who will be performing at the local Plaza Theatre tomorrow night here in town.

My dad bought two ticket's to take mom to go see her tomorrow night. But his work schedule changed so now I will be going with mom to see Lorrie Morgan. Now, I want to go because I have never been inside this theatre and it looks really nice from the pictures I saw. The outside of the building makes the theatre seem much smaller than it really is.

Anyway, what songs is she well known for?

If I can find the digital camera, I will try to take pictures and post them.

Go and enjoy her! I saw her once in the early 90's.

She has an amazing voice. And she's got nine lives. I was a fan of hers back when I was in high school in the late 80's. She looks and sounds great. I looved her and Keith Whitley, her late husband.

I still love the song Something In Red. :gladsad: When I think of her, I think of this song:

    This was pretty popular:

Thinking of her makes me think of Keith and this song, which is my all-time favorite song:

    And this one:

He died way too soon. He was an amazing talent.

Lorrie Morgan has had some pretty good songs in her career. She once visited the radio station where I worked on a promo tour and signed autographs for the staff.

Didn't she also do What part of no don't You Understand? Edit: Just saw that in the second YouTube clip. That was her, all right.

And there's no question that Whitley had sky-is-the-limit talent. I remember in I want to say 1989 when I saw the news of his death crossed the AP wire and I gave it to our guy on the air at the time.

        Very sad.

I cried when he died. I was fifteen.

The second Lorrie Morgan vid I posted is What Part of No? We used to listen to that a lot in college.

I wonder if she will perform Something In Red tomorrow night. I also wonder if she will be staying overnight in town. Usually the country singers that come in through here stay at the local bed and breakfast. We also had Kathy Mattea down here not to long ago and the group of four cowboys that sang Woody's Roundup from Toy Story 2.

Seeing as how that "Red" was one of her most popular songs, I'd pretty much bet the farm on it, so to speak.

I like Good, emotional songs. So that song I'll look foward to hearing live. I found the camera and may need to bring some extra batteries tomorrow night.

Just got back from the concert. There was a big Mosh pit and Lorrie did a stage dive into the audience.

                  Just Kidding

Anyway, got some bad news. I found the digi camera last night but could not find it's charger. So that means I have no pictures because the camera was dead. I just wish it wasn't dead because I could have gone up to the stage and taken some really good photo's.

Anyway, Lorrie has two new albums set to come out in a few months and she performed many news songs off of it.

One of my favorites from the new Lorrie Morgan album is titled Mirror, Mirror. It's a song about finding pieces of you that have gone missing. It is kinda sad, but it's a very good song.

She also sang some of her hits like Something in Red.

She ended the concert by singing It's a Wonderful World by Louie Armstrong.

At the begining of the concert, she said, we could write down any requests we wanted her to sing on the back of a hundred dollar bill .

Her family was in attendance and she told this funny story about her brother wanting a car.

It was his 16th birthday and he told his dad, George Morgan, he wanted a car.

George said "Okay, under 3 conditions. 1, you go to school every day, get there on time, and come back home. 2, you read the bible and hour a day. 3, you cut that hair!"

Lorrie said his hair was all the way down to his waist.

So a few days passed and her brother told her dad, "Okay, I did just like you told me to do. I went to school, I read the bible, now I want my car!"

George paused for a few minutes. He said, "But you didn't cut your hair!"

Brother said, "Well, you know, after reading the bible, it said Jesus had long hair!"

George said, "Yeah, he also walked everywhere."

Something in red is one of my favorite songs.
                    Good morning, son
                    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
                    It was pain
                    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

That would be Riders in the Sky

Here's a pic I took of them at the Grand Ole Opry
