  • Rent filmed on Broadway

I only just learned about this in the past 24 hours, and unfortunately half the showings have passed already. Apparently in its final week on Broadway the show was filmed and is being shown 4 times only (2 have already passed) in movie theaters. You can check out this link to see if it's playing near you: Sony Pictures Releasing - The Hot Ticket

That's totally cool, but they are $20 per ticket at our theatre.

Hopefully they will eventually release this on DVD.

Thanks for the info. I have a friend who is nuts about this show but has never seen it on Broadway.

This is being released through the Hot Ticket (AKA Sony pictures), They showed Cirque du Soleil's Delirum a few weeks back and they're having a encore showing of it so I'm sure they'll do it for Rent and eventually release it to DVD.

I would love to have this in my collection. It was well worth my $20. I saw it in a full theater and everyone seemed to have a wonderful time.

The filming was wonderful and since I don't have the availability of many plays in my area - I certainly welcomed this opportunity.

It was a really good show. I preferred it over the recent Chris Columbus movie.

LA Wicked fans are in for a treat. Eden Espinosa (Elphaba) plays Maureen. She's just as amazing!

^Wasn't she a great Maureen? I really want it on DVD. I adored it. I'm really excited about seeing the touring production in March.
