  • RIP David Nelson - "America's Favorite Family" Reunited In Heaven

For those of us of "a certain age", the "Adventures" of Ozzie and Harriet were a weekly staple of television life.

The last surviving member of what was once proclaimed "America's Favorite Family", has died at the age of 74.

    RIP, David Nelson.

Maybe he wasn't the teenage idol his brother was, but the lyrics from one of my favorite Rick Nelson songs seem to fit here.

Some people call me a teenage idol
Some people say they envy me
I guess they got no way of knowing
    How lonesome I can be
    How lonesome I can be
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

If you're old enough to remember, which episodes of the Nelsons did you like best?

The ones from the early 50's, with neighbor Thorny (Don Defore of Disneyland "Silver Banjo" restaurant fame) or the later ones when Ricky would sing one of his songs at the end?
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
