Disney also announced that the name of a previously untitled movie from Disney animation is now Frozen, and that it will get a wide release on November 27, 2013 and will be in 3D and 2D. The movie is described as a fairy tale, but the studio has not released any other details.

It is not the live action movie Matterhorn or a Pixar movie about dinosaurs, which is scheduled for release in 2014.

Smart money has 'Frozen' as the latest title for the looooong-in-gestation feature, 'The Snow Queen'.

The film from Walt Disney Animation Studios is under the Direction of Chris Williams ('Bolt', the creator of the 'Prep and Landing') with Art Dircector Paul Felix ('Winnie the Pooh', 'Bolt'), Animation Supervisor Clay Kaytis and Story Supervisor & MiceChat member Paul Briggs.

First "Tangled" and now "Frozen".... Me thinks they're afraid to commit fully to the story and characters.

Frozen... could it finally be their version of The Snow Queen?

Oops, I just fully read the first post.

ORDDU: Changing the original titles of fairytales is utterly ridiculous as well as misleading. Tangled was the first mess they made. Now they want to tamper with The Snow Queen? It reduces the magic when they do this. And they do this for the sake of being 'hip' and 'edgy'? But in years to come, such titles won't be timeless. Thank goodness Uncle Walt never did anything like that when he was alive. The fairytales lose their true identities when their titles are changed so drastically.

About the title, I'm curious to see what the rest of the world will pick as title. I know that in many European countries 'Tangled' WAS called 'Rapunzel' (or translated the name 'Rapunzel' instead of 'Tangled') I hope the will pull the same thing on 'Frozen' so we get 'The Snow Queen' (translated ofcourse like 'De Sneeuwkoningin' (Dutch) for example)

Does anyone know if Alan Menken will still do the music/songs? I know he has been involved with previous incarnations of the 'Snow Queen' movie.

A names a name....if the movie is good that will make it a classic not the name. As long as its good then I don't care what the name is........Look at Brave thats a Fairy tale type movie and no one really cares whats its called as long as its good

Sorry kids, was thinking of Chris Buck. Chris Williams' team is on 'King of the Elves'.

Great news having the film back on track. I can live with the name change. After all there's not a lot we can do about it.

Here's hoping it'll be hand drawn too.

Hi! I'm new in the forum.

Does anyone now if frozen is CG or traditional animation?

                            Welcome & Happy New Year!

Been hearing from a few people at WDAS that it'll be a CG feature not unlike 'Tangled'. They've been experimenting for awhile now with a new hybrid technology, a combination of CG and traditional hand-drawn animation I believe, so the upcoming films from the studio should have some truly new onscreen treats for us all. I'm sure we'll be hearing more about this in the coming year.

I hope it'll work out this time because if I remember correctly, Tangled also was going to be 'a living painting' (with all the beautiful artwork)
