I'm usually pretty critical of most of the Dreamworks films. As far as I'm concerned Pixar can do no wrong, but with Dreamworks it is more miss than hit. I liked the original Kung Fu Panda 2008 7 out of 10 , but I didn't think it was great , so I was surprised how much I loved part 2. The story was just okay. A standard Kung Fu plot as the big fat Panda must learn about his roots while defeating a villain that threatens all of China. A Villian that was involved with what happened to his real parents. (No one really believed that a Goose was his dad right?). The thing about this movie that made it incredible was the visuals and the amazing action sequences. Dreamworks may finally be stepping up to the level of making some really great films. (Yes I realize they have had movies that were big hits, but in quality none of those films hold up to what has always made the Pixar films great in my opinion). Kung Fu Panda 2 is just kick *** action. It has an energy on par with the other Dreamworks film that I fell in love with because of its amazing visuals How to Train a Dragon. I'm going to have to start paying more attention to Dreamworks releases (minus Puss and Boots--I didn't even like that character in the Shrek films). If you want a thrill ride of Kung Fu fun....check out the Panda in action and if you love the movie you may want to check out Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness TV show as well on Cartoon network.
