Getting through Disney California Adventure got a bit easier this week as the permanent connector path between the Hollywood Pictures Backlot and A Bug's Land opened for business. The new path finally puts an end to the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror being a dead-end for the Hollywood-themed area of the park, and the new path can't hurt with the oft-forgotten Flik's Fun Fair area with some increased foot traffic. The opening of the new path also marked the completion of the new section of Red Car Trolley track in the area. The new Trolley is already making quite the mark on the park in terms of quality and theming, and that's saying something considering the trolleys won't actually be using the new tracks for another two years. Speaking of coming attractions, construction continues at the upcoming Little Mermaid and Cars Land attractions and over in Disneyland, Star Tours continues its makeover.

Thanks to Macro for some additional help this week with Red Car Trolley photos.

For more information on any of the construction projects featured in today's update, just look for a Project Tracker water mark and click that photo for more information on the project and to join the on-going discussion.

There's plenty to get to this week, so let's get started!

Star Tours work continues to get underway in Tomorrowland.

The support post that included electricity lighting effects has been stripped down, and the floor on the queue entry has been removed. Hopefully it'll be removed for good for a more sleek and futuristic aesthetic.

Peeking through construction walls, you can see scaffolding is going up inside the queue.

<a name="DD2-1">RED CAR TROLLEY</a>
Over in California Adventure's Hollywood Pictures Backlot, work has wrapped up on the remainder of the new section of Red Car Trolley track near the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.

The gates lead to the Red Car Trolley maintenance facility backstage.

The new thematically-appropriate "wigwag" is located at one of the pedestrial crosswalks along the trolley route.

Interestingly, the Red Car Trolley street marker we showed you last week has been replaced with one that no longer bears the 1942 date previously featured. Below is the marker as pictured in last week's update...

And here is the new marker, sans '1942.' Seems like the date must have been a story error within Imagineering and was changed.

The removal of the construction walls in this area also marked the opening of the new permanent pathway between the Hollywood Pictures Backlot and A Bug's Land. A temporary path was open briefly a few months ago and was entirely un-themed. The new path provides a suitably-themed transition between the two very different lands and allows a much-needed access point in this area of the park.

A sign from the Backlot-side of the path lets you know you're entering A Bug's Land

<a name="DD2-2">BLUE THROUGH</a>
Over in Paradise Pier, California Screamin' is getting a slightly different look. The teal scream tubes, which are placed along key points of the coaster track to reduce noise pollution from coaster riders, are being repainted in a new blue.

It seems too soon to tell if the new blue is much of an upgrade from the teal that largely defined the original Paradise Pier color scheme, but it seems like more lipstick on a pig rather than making the proper effort to make a properly-themed solution.

Construction continues at the site of the upcoming Little Mermaid dark ride.

Walls have gone up around the smoking area/seating area next to Mullholland Madness.

Not much has happened so far at Burger Invasion, but work should start soon soon on removing the giant burger facade.

<a name="DD2-5">CARS LAND</a>
Work continues on Cars Land outside park walls

Cars Land rock walls rise behind Pacific Wharf and Paradise Pier

Hopefully the backside of these rock walls will get some thematic treatment and won't just be an un-themed wall.

The LA Times Funland Blog recently featured a scene-by-scene preview (with concept art not pictured here) of the upcoming Radiator Springs Racers attraction, which promises to blow your expectations of a Disney E-Ticket out of the water

<a name="DD3">DISNEYWALL HOTEL</a>
Work continues on the Disneyland Hotel remodel

Walls are up around the Lost Bar, dining locations, and Jungle Cruise remote control boats

The Disneyland Hotel's waterfalls are also behind construction walls now, awaiting demolition

With the waterfall area completely walled off, the Wonder Tower's main entrance is inaccessible. To get into the tower, hotel guests must walk all the way around the Tower to enter through the back entrance.

Inside, only a construction wall corridor leads guests to the elevators for room access. The tower's lobby area is completely closed for remodel.
