Disneyland's annual Halloween Time festivities are now in full swing as for its fifth year with major attractions including Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy and Haunted Mansion Holiday are now ready for fall crowds and the parks (mostly Disneyland) are decked out in their Halloween finest. California Adventure isn't dressed up too much for the season, though, as the park continues to lean on its new nighttime water-and-light show World of Color as its main draw while construction makes the rest of the park a maze of work walls. Meanwhile, guests attending D23's Destination D: Disneyland 55 convention this weekend will have to make their way through their own mess of construction walls at the Disneyland Hotel while work continues on the hotel's major remodeling project.

Thanks to Fishbulb and Matt "2DieFR" Gottula for lending their photographic talents this week.

You can always find more information on the construction projects featured in today's update on the MiceChat discussion boards! Just look for a Project Tracker water mark and click that photo for more information on the project and to join the on-going discussion.

There's always plenty going on at the Disneyland Resort, so let's get started!

Disneyland is decked out in fall colors and littered with jack-o-lanterns for its annual Halloween Time festivities.

Over in New Orleans Square, Haunted Mansion Holiday has opened for its annual run through the New Year.

The annual holiday overlay has returned this year with a few new upgrades including new digital projections on the moon in the large load area display and Madame Leota now floats during the holiday overlay, along with some festive lights and other floating goodies. 2DieFR captured the new features on video, embedded below.
<object width="675" height="531"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/e6oL9vHi8KE?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/e6oL9vHi8KE?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="675" height="531"></embed></object>

Over in Frontierland, author Ray Bradbury's Halloween Tree is back, along with the Dia de los Muertos decorations in nearby Zocalo Park.

The Dia de los Muertos display also offers face painting.

And further back in Frontierland, Big Thunder Ranch is all decked out for Halloween as well.

Finally, over in Tomorrowland, Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy is back for its second year. Unfortunately, there isn't much new added here.

<a name="DD2">WORK AROUND THE PARK</a>
The work on the horse-drawn trolley track in the hub has wrapped up.

Work continues on the Village Haus Restaurant refurbishment in Fantasyland

...and construction continues inside Star Tours as the attraction undergoes a major update.

Meanwhile, Minnie's House is closed through the end of the month for a refurbishment.

A look at California Adventure's ongoing $1 billion remodel and expansion...

Construction presses on at the new Little Mermaid attraction opening next spring.

<a name="DD4-3">MALIBOOMER</a>
Scaffolding and a crane is up around the Maliboomer towers now as work starts to get underway dismantling the ride.

<a name="DD4-5">CARS LAND</a>
Construction continues on the massive Cars Land project...

Set-up for the upcoming ElecTRONica nighttime dance parties in Sunshine Plaza and the Hollywood Pictures Backlot is taking over more and more.

Meanwhile, work on the Red Car Trolley track and the repainting of the cloud backdrop get closer to completion...

Out of the parks, the Disneyland Hotel is seeing some major demolition as crews remove the old Lost Bar, remote Jungle Cruise boat pond and other features.

At the same time, work continues on the guest towers remodeling.

<a name="DD6">THIS & THAT</a>
Back in the parks, the buoy has returned to the Submarine Lagoon, despite still missing the animatronic seagulls.

California Adventure's Catch-a-Flave ice cream stand is getting a refurbishment.

And on the way out of the parks, the Indiana Jones Adventure show building visible from the Downtown Disney tram stop is getting a new skin to help camouflage it.

Does it help it blend in?

And the Mickey and Friends parking structure is getting some work done.

From the OC Register:</td></tr><tr><td cellpadding="5" width="75%" bgcolor="LemonChiffon">
Tax to boost cost of Disney-area hotel stay
Staying the night in a hotel around Disneyland is about to get more expensive.

The City Council on Tuesday night gave final approvals to a plan to tack on a 2 percent fee to hotel bills. The city already has Orange County's highest hotel bed tax at 15 percent.

The extra fee will establish a Tourism Improvement District, which is intends to help promote convention business and more tourism to the area. It also will fund some transportation projects in the resort area.

Hotel operators have the option of paying the fee themselves rather than passing it along to guests.

Anaheim estimates that the new tax will bring in $11 million each year.

"Our resort district is one of our most valuable assets," said Councilman Bob Hernandez. "This is an opportunity to go above and beyond what we (the city) have been able to offer. ...This is an opportunity we can't pass up."

The council voted 4-0 to establish the new district. (Councilman Harry Sidhu was absent).

The tax takes effect Nov. 1.
