  • Model Train Store Closing

Interesting. Today I find out about this new area of Mice Chat and on someone's blog that I frequent I find out a very famous model train store is closing. So if you are into model trains and other cool sounding stuff, you might want to pay the store a visit before May 12th. Here is a link

    Allied Model Trains

    They are located at

    4411 Sepulveda Blvd.
    Culver City, CA 90230

I'm strongly considering going by there tomorrow while I am on vacation.

Oh man, I used to go to that store all the time as kid. My dad was really into model trains and I remember buying one of those train whistles.

I need to take a trip!

There is always a good train shop down here in OC.....for those who need their fix.

it's what they are like in their HEART!

        Re: Model Train Store Closing

I went there once back in 1998 before I moved to Georgia. I've always loved trains and was completelty in awe. I left with a catalouge of HO trains and accessories and would look at it for hours dreaming of building a huge model train layout.

The official website says the store was sold and is moving across the street. So it isn't entirely closing.

Yes and no. Apparently the man who has owned it all these years sold the business. There will still be a train store but it will be in a another building across the street from its current location. I don't know why they are making this move nor do I know what will happen to the cool building it is in now. It also sounds like from the letter on the web site that the current owner is selling off everything, even stuff that is in a warehouse somewhere. So I can't figure out exactly what the new guy is getting by buying the business. The name?

I'm not sure I will be able to go after all as there are car issues involved on this end. If I do go, and get answers, I'll let you know.

I too used to go to Allied a lot. Since not driving, and the fact that there is no bus service on Sepulveda between the Valley and Westwood, I haven't been able to go for years. I could sure use some of the scenery stuff for my models and dioramas though.
