Peace Hippie was hanging out at Build-A-Bear so I asked if she wanted to come home with me.

“That sounds groovy,” she said, as she sauntered over to my car and climbed in.

She is so cute that I could not resist, but with my bear family growing I’m really happy she’s so laid back.

Tropicolor Teddy gave her a big hug and Lo♥ey gave her a Swiss kiss.

Duffy said, “heya,” and Shellie May went over to her closet to put on a new outfit to show that she has something in common with Peace Hippie, too. She included her ear extensions since they’re so colorful.

“I’m diggin’ your rags,” said Peace Hippie to Shellie May.

“Rags? These are NOT rags! It is a custom designed ensemble from Etsy,” said Shellie May, outraged.

“Relax, man, it’s just the way I talk,” said Peace Hippie.

I had to explain to Shellie May that Peace Hippie knows that she is not a man; that’s just another slang word.

“Where do you come from? I never heard anyone talk like you,” asked Shellie May, somewhat mollified.

“I hitchhiked from San Francisco,” said Peace Hippie. “It’s a big world out there and I want to see it. But once I got to Tennessee, even with my thumb out and a peace necklace as an offering of thanks in my paw, the cars just kept passing me by. I trudged along on foot but by the time I got to Build-A-Bear in Franklin I was exhausted and was camping out until I got adopted here.”

Peace Hippie presented Shellie May with a darling daisy headband. “If you’re going to San Francisco…be sure to wear some flowers in your hair,” she advised (based on the Scott MacKenzie song).

“I’ll remember that!” exclaimed Shellie May, pleased.

San Francisco - Scott McKenzie - YouTube

“Here, have some chocolate. It’s the last of my stash. It might be a little melted but it kept me sustained on my long journey.”

“Oooo, Ghirardelli, MY FAVORITE!” exclaimed Shellie May!

“Hmmm, my favorite, TOO!” said Duffy, as he dug in.

“What do you say bears?” I prompted them.

“Thank you, Peace Hippie!” they replied in unison with their mouths full.

      Spreading peace, love, and happiness.

I should take Duffy running around bear naked as my cue to start using the air conditioner.

Peace Hippie’s feet are in bad shape after trudging bear foot across half the state of Tennessee when nobody would give her a ride. It is 221 long miles from Memphis to my house!

Shellie May, with her own popped foot, noticed it first. “Oh, your poor paws have callouses,” she said.

“Yeah, I’m still pretty tired,” said Peace Hippie. “I just want to SIT!”

“Here, have some Epsom salts and some foot scrub and cream. You’ll feel a lot better!” Shellie May offered. The bathtub is too big for da bears but the sink is just perfect!

Peace Hippie enjoyed a relaxing bath, and then they sat on the edge and all soaked their feet.

Next it was time for their pedicures.

Adelaide, who knows what it’s like to be self-conscious of her feet, dove into the shoe tub and found something for Peace Hippie to wear. “Here are some athletic shoes with good support,” she offered.

“Thank you both!” said Peace Hippie. “I love living here. It’s like a bear commune!”

Later, Peace Hippie and Shellie May lounged in their night gowns, telling tales of their adventures. They each have covered different geography, and it’s Peace Hippie’s dream to someday finish her cross-country trek and see the Atlantic ocean.

Shellie May shared her photos and Peace Hippie shared her video diary.

“I like anywhere I go; I don’t have a goal,” said Shellie May. “But Duffy and I saw 9 states last year! That’s pretty good huh?”

“Yup,” replied Peace Hippie as her eyes started drooping. They’ll probably be asleep soon.

Can't be any worse than Chicago where it's snowing AND sticking to the cars, roads, and grass! As of 8 a.m. this morning as my sister just called me and posted a picture.

My sister didn't like this story; she said it's dumb to have them dangling their feet in a dry sink. Well, it's not like I'm going to fill it with water (and take the chance that da bears topple in!) Oh, well.

So at my church a few times a year, they have a store for the kids to spend the "bucks" they earned. Being an adult, I did not earn any bucks but the person in charge saw me eying the plushies and let me have one. Sorry, bear; I wanted your clothes...

The tiger suit was from "Saber Tiger" from a Wee Bear Village by Ganz pre-dressed bear, and it fits a Magnet Duffy fine. The suit has Velcro so it comes off easily, and the elastic helps it fit my Tiny Duffy. The only iffy part with a magnet bear is the neck, because the magnet bears have a swivel joint so they can turn their heads, and a swivel joint won't squish. So that makes the neck a bit of a tight fit. I THINK the outfit would fit a strap bear (and maybe a keychain bear? I don't have one) just fine.

The outfit came with a face mask; I just placed it on top of the hat. The hat itself was held on by a ribbon bow that was sewn with one stitch. I pulled it off the bear with some squishing (sorry bear!) but couldn't get it onto Duffy without cutting the stitch. Not hard. There are some little flat-footed shoes on the bear but those were sewn on with I think two stitches and I didn't remove them. I'm not sure if they'd fit Duffy but I like how he matches Badge Shellie May with no shoes.

Best of all, there are a ton of different bears like this on eBay (mostly bears dressed as other animals or objects, but there are a few real outfits too). While the Ganz bears are much skinnier than Tiny Duffy, I would guess that most items would fit bears the size of Tiny Duffy just fine, so long as the shoes are separate and there are holes for the hands...a full "bodysuit" may be too tight. I saw at least one pre-dressed bears that was cheaper than a magnet bear, with free shipping. So if your tiny bears need clothes, that might be a very economical solution. If you had no thread/fabric/Velcro/elastic to start with, just buying the materials to make most of the outfits on eBay would cost more than simply buying the outfit.

(Of course, Shellie May is a badge from Halloween 2013. I love that the tiger also has horizontal stripes on the legs! Too bad Tiny Shellie May doesn't have an animal outfit to go with them...)

Duffy and Shellie May conquered a new state…barely.

We went to Breaks Interstate Park, which is in Kentucky and Virginia.

“Quick, let’s get our picture here,” said Shellie May already climbing out of the car.

Later, at the stateline overlook, Duffy was slouching while I got my camera out.

“Stand up straight, Duffy,” I instructed him. “What’s wrong?”

“Aren’t I supposed to get a donut before we go hiking?” he asked.

“Not necessarily. There is no Donut Friar here. Plus we aren’t hiking. This is just an overlook,” I told him.

                            “Oh, okay.”

So that was our Memorial Day weekend.

Got some Duffy photos I want to share:

So I went to the Disneyland Resort through the weekend and here are the photos.

Spending the night at the Paradise Pier Hotel:

Then we went to California Adventure and went to some rides and attractions and met lots of characters. The first character we met was Duffy.

And these are some of the Duffy merchandise offerings for this month.

Then we went to Donald's greeting spot and said hello.

A shot of Duffy with an image of the Hurricane Lighthouse on the wall.

Then we went over to Buena Vista Street and said hello to Pluto and Mickey.

We then headed to Condor Flats and said hi to Minnie.

And we took a break from California Adventure and headed to Disneyland. We went to Main Street and said hi to Mickey.

Around the "Partners" statue, I took some photos of these:

We then headed to Toontown and stoped by Mickey's House to say hi.

Then we went to Minnie's House to say hi to the "maker".

We then spotted Pluto in Toontown and said hi.

After we were finished with out visit to Disneyland, we headed back to California Adventure and said hi to a few friends on Buena Vista Street.

And we end it with Duffy posing near Paradise Pier.

                              What do you guys think?

Da bears turned in their paperwork and have enough points to get a library book bag for the summer reading challenge.

"I got an email that some of the stuff I put on reserve came in. Can we go get it?" asked Shellie May.

"Sure, I'll come pick you up after work. Duffy, do you want to come?"

"Did my book about vampires and pirates come in?" he inquired.

"Vampires?!?!? What type of stuff are you reading? You are going to have nightmares."

"No, I won't," he informed me. "Bearami and I have been working our way through the scary and science fiction movies in your DVD collection since last Halloween and we haven't had nightmares yet. I'm really mature for my age," he ended.

"I'll pick up whatever is on the shelf for us," I told him. He didn't think it was worth changing into day clothes just to go get one book. "Not unless we're going to stop at a donut shop on the way," he said.

"You are to donuts like I am to ice cream," Shellie May giggled as we walked out on our own.

When we got to the library I picked up the nicest and luckily, the biggest book bag they have given to patrons since I started doing this program in 2008.

It was a good thing because there was a TON of stuff for us. "How much did you order, Shellie May?" I was afraid to ask but I had to.

"We are allowed 100 items per library card," she said. "So are there 100 items?"

"Not quite, but you don't have to max out your whole library card! Geez, save some for other residents!"

"Look at this place. It's not like they're going to run out. Plus it's better to max out my library card than your paypal account, right?"

Well, she does have a point there.

So here is our loot. Everything is for Shellie May except Duffy's Vampire/Pirates book on top.

We stacked everything up. "You did a good job, Shellie May. I can reach you now," said Duffy. "Peekaboo!"

Shellie May started counting. "There are 34 items here," she told me.

"And my Vampire/Pirate book came in, yippee!" said Duffy.

"Now we have stuff to do while you're at work. We were getting sort of bored," said Shellie May.

"You're getting sort of spoiled," I warned her. I don't think she heard me, though, since she was already immersed in the first chapter.
