  • Shellie May wanted her photo taken at the William J. Clinton Presidential Library.

"WHATTT?!???!? There is an admission fee to this library? I never heard of such a thing," exclaimed Shellie May in total surprise.

Duffy observed which states Bill Clinton won in each election.

"Wow, that's alot of reading, even for me," said Shellie May, who just likes fiction and the occasional human interest story.

"All that reading times 8 years? I'm not going to even put my glasses on for that, meh," she continued.

Then we went upstairs. "Yeah, I'm borrrrrrred, and hungry. Can we go now?" asked Shellie May. It was total sensory overload for her.

"Just do what I do when too much reading is involved. Watch the movie version," said Duffy.

    Hillbilly Clyde watching the movie.

    End of day 3.

    • JillT, are you certain you are copying the image location (ending with .JPG) and not the link location? I only ask because one of your posts has a broken IMG tag and it ends with a long URL ending in no instead of .JPG. The IMG tag will only work with JPGs and maybe other graphics files like GIFs.

Actually, a last ditch option might be to just post the images on Google, caption them, make the albums public or available to anyone with the link, and then just link to the album here. Then we could still see your stories and it would probably be a lot easier for you. (Especially if you are posting most of all of your photos here. My albums are giant because I take a kajillion photos, so I am better off posting individual posts here )

      • I am sorry I don't know what you're talking about image location instead of URL. The only option I have for google+ and photobucket are the brackets "copy image" feature.

          • If you right-click on a picture, there should be an option along the lines of "copy image LOCATION" or "copy image URL", etc. You need to get the address of the image itself, which will end in .jpg You need to use a URL/link ending in .jpg If it ends in something else, I don't think the system will recognize it as a photo.

(And yes, I'm really irritated that the new system and lack of support has crippled your storytelling )

Whoops, no, that posts a link to the whole album, and while I only upload da bears' photos, I don't know how much access that gives people to my account so I'm not going to do that.

                  • Let me know if you can see that, and what the picture is, and if it works I'll go back and repost my stories and start doing it that way. I think everyone could at least see my pics through the Beatles park, correct? It was only Mammoth Springs and later that it didn't work?

Shellie May was more interested in the CDs with railroad songs on them. When we got back home, we were disappointed to discover that the library does not carry any music by Wayne Erbsen, but not disappointed enough to pay the $14.95 price tag for music we didn’t even know if we would like.

                          • You can make the Word document into a PDF and then upload that SOMEWHERE (not MiceChat). Then in theory you could post the link...but the way MiceChat works for you, I don't know...

My thought was to paste the .jpg link to each photo, but then surround with the IMG tags. It works for me, but my account never had the massive problems yours has!

I can't view your link to your Google picture, actually...are your albums set to private? You need to change the privacy setting so the album can be viewed by anyone with the link. That might fix your earlier posts! I don't remember how off the top of my head but if you can't find it I will look this afternoon!

                              • Uuuugh! I think when you change the settings, it changes your URL/web address for the photos. Which would mean you'd have to re-post them. Which would be a lot more trouble than you should have to take. :P :P :P Grrrrr!

My IMG/bracket note refers to the instructions I gave in http://discuss.micechat.com/forum/co...94#post8443794 . I guess they weren't super clear, though.

I was going to work on making screencaps and instructions to help explain better. But from a web search, it looks like Google is working hard to make their photos NOT work. I even read that they have previously made changes to keep images from working even AFTER they are posted! In other words, someday my photos here may randomly stop working (maybe even on my blog!!) and there's nothing I can do about it. So I'm not sure that it would be of any help to you to give you better instructions, when Google might change the rules and break your images again.

MiceChat, Google, and maybe even Photobucket seem to not want people to post images on messageboards anymore. :P I don't know a fix. I don't really use Photobucket but if you can write out exactly what you do to post the images, I'd be happy to try making an account and see if I have the same problems here, or if I can figure out a better way to post. I'm sorry for all the trouble and that my instructions didn't actually fix the problem they should have fixed.

(But I'll still post some photos later today, probably, even if they may break someday because of Google!)

So sad, as I enjoy reading everyone's stories and also posting my own. I make a slide show for my friends at the end of the year of all da bears' adventures and i type up the text in big font and print out each page and insert those in between teh photos so people can read along. I appreciate all your thinking, I hope you don't have a headache now.

                                      • No, my head is OK! Filled with annoyance at Google, but it's OK. It is Google's fault that your IMG links are not working. They will only work if you can find the ACTUAL location of the photo, which should end in a ".JPG" (not a "-no"). Google, in their infinite wisdom, will not allow people to have the link ending in JPG. The link ending in JPG would let you post images just fine, but Google doesn't want us to have them! I literally tried to follow the instructions I gave you, on your own image, and I had the exact same problem as you, because of Google.

So is not your fault and it is not your bears' fault! (Hugs to all of you!) The Photobucket issue might be MiceChat's fault, but the Google Photos issue is Google's fault.

Do you have access to http://picasaweb.google.com/ ? That is what I use. Your Google Photos albums should already be loaded in there. I can right-click on an image, get the image location, and paste it right in. (That solution will not work forever, apparently, because Google is kind of evil, but it works for me.)
