Duffy MeetUp October 14, 2012 - Duffy's 2nd Year Anniversary at EPCOT

Hello All Duffy Fans!

I'm hoping that we can have a Duffy celebration MeetUp on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at Epcot.

I'd like to keep the tradition that amister started - we can meet at the store near the Duffy Pavilion & take out picture with Duffy at 11:15. ( I think that's when he first comes out. )

I have a few thoughts on what we might do that day to celebrate - We could possibly have a Teddy Bear picnic. I'll be looking for some spots at Epcot when I go over there in the next 2 months.

I thought it might also be nice to visit Japan and spread some Magic Pixie Dust to bring ShellieMay to the USA.

I have some other ideas, yet it will depend on how many of us can meet, etc.

I wanna do it I'm in. That gonna be so cool since its so close to my birthday to. I can check out some spots since I live close and so maybe when I go there I will check out some spots.

I normally don't do Sunday trips, but I'll see if I can work this one in. I don't get paid until the next day though, but we'll see. The following weekend would be better for me.

Ah man, the day after my Birthday! I soooooo wish we were able to come!

There wasn't a meetup last year. I organized a meetup earlier this year that had a small turnout, but decent for a first time. We would have had more people show up but some people ended up not being able to make it at the last minute.

Duffy has that on his Bucket List - he wants to take ShellieMay back to visit her homeland one day - the sooner the better too!

That sounds great! I want to do the meet on this day because it's Duffy's 2nd year anniversary. Last Year Disney held the book signing event & passed out 1st year anniversary tee shirts.

Facetime? I never actually use it, but I think it's free and no roaming charges... At the very least we could iMessage. I know that's free. Someone going has iPhone?:unsure:

I have facetime, but it's WiFi only.... sadly the parks don't provide WIFI or that would be a great solution!

I do have an iPhone, so we can iMessage.....

I was also thinking that depending on how many phones or devices we have, we could have pictures on the phones of the people that want to join in and take pictures of the phones with pictures of the Duffy's in virtual attendance.

One thing I have done for friends that couldn't make it to the event is make a flat version of them! You take a picture and 'add' a body - there are paper doll templates. Then you can either cut out clothes in coloured paper or just draw on clothes, some I've seen people have lots of outfits and change them depending on the occasion! I laminated mine as we took them all over the place and I didn't want the ink to run.

Here is one of the pictures I took



The same idea could work for our Duffy's if people don't want their picture taken. Depending on how many 'flatties' there would be I can make them and ,if Aimster doesn't mind :bow: send them to Aimster in time for the meet?

Wifi Announcement for Disney Parks!

Walt Disney World has been rolling out free internet access throughout it’s resorts recently and now it, it is going to be available in one of it’s theme parks for the first time.
The Magic Kingdom is going to be offering free WiFi to their guests. It is expected that the other parks and even Downtown Disney will be offering free access in the coming months.
To connect, all you’ll need to do is select Disney-Guest on your device and agree to the terms. Also, when all the theme parks come online, once you connect, you will not need to reconnect. It should automatically pick up the signal, where ever it’s available. Right now, you’ll be able to seamlessly move from the Magic Kingdom to the resorts.
To me, this is a wonderful addition. It is well known that Disney’s internet access is quite spotty in the parks. Hopefully, this means that this will no longer be an issue anymore.

If it reaches EPCOT by Duffy's anniversary - this might help.

I really like Becx's suggestion though! It actually might work the best! It could be really cute too because of the Duffy Kidcot paddle. (or whatever it's called - You know the Duffy that you can color at the Kidcot places.)

Actually Becx, I'm organizing this meet up - Aimster isn't sure if she can make it to this one as of yet.

It would be cute if these could be you holding your Duffy/ShellieMay or both!

For a silly/easy thing to do, maybe you could write the names of all of us who can't make it names on a T-shirt for someone's Duffy to wear, and get him in the pictures? Or a sign.

The face idea is really fun for those of us who like to be in pictures. But one of my favorite things about Tiny Duffy and Tiny Shellie May is that they're fun to be in pictures and are much more photogenic than I am!

(I'm on the opposite side of the country so I won't be making this one, but it sounds like so much fun. Have a great time, everyone!)

Hi Eeee-va - I just got a new printer. I bet I could print everyone's name or something on a tee shirt or a banner. I'm doing my best to get a dedicated page up on My Duffy Bear...... Traveling to Disney and Beyond! - to post everyone's pictures or pictures of their Duffy/ShellieMay to show all the virtual attendees!

I'm also working on a gallery, so that Duffy can have a page with pictures of all his Duffy friends around the world!

Sandrita, thanks for the e-mail! I loved you idea of getting the Epcot Duffy paddles and having the 'Duffy' hold the owner! If you give me an idea of the size of the Duffy paddle paw I will make some small cut outs of owners!

I already have one picture and I'll do one of myself. Please send me a PM of a good face shot (I will cut off the head of the picture and put it onto a small body template for the Duffy to hold! as long as the face is clear then it's fine) if you want to be included. I will be getting these done over the next few weeks so I can mail them when we go on vacation in September. Please let me have your photo by 25th August to give me time to make them :thumbup:

PS when I know the size of the Duffy paddle paw I will make one up and post a picture so you know what I'm thinking

Hi Becx! Here's the size of the Duffy paddle.



I'm going to EPCOT tomorrow, so I'll be collecting Duffy paddles from all the Kidcot Stations!

This is getting sooooo exciting!

We can also go to take a private picture with Minnie Mouse. Goofy is usually with her. I have a Disney Rewards Credit Card & you can have a picture between 1:30 - 4:30 pm. They'll give me one free picture. I can scan & upload the picture in a good quality for everyone to have printed if they would like.
