  • Show Off Your Pin Collection!

Since the old one is closed, I thought I'd start a new one! With a DL trip and a WDW trip this year, I have gotten quite a few new pins! (Not to mention the great people on here who have helped me obtain a few).

I finally got them all up on my boards this weekend, so I thought I'd post them.

Please post your collections as well!!
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

    Part 1:
These first three are my "old" collection - when I was first getting into pin trading.

The pink lanyard is from my first WDW trip and the second was a year later - a good look into how things can change in just one year )

(Sorry for the picture quality... it's hard to get a good shot in little light on a narrow staircase LOL)

(This one contains a few non-Disney pins too!)

      Part 2... the rest!!

I try to group my pins by subject and type, but after this last batch, it became more difficult.

This is my Tinker Bell/fairies and Peter Pan/PP characters collection:

This one is holidays, trains, monorails, attractions, Pixar, Goofy, Enchanted, Fox and the Hound, Little Mermaid, Rescuers... etc.
Yes, I collect WAY too many types of pins! :lmao:

This one is 101 Dalmations plus pin sets.

This board is my more special type pins, like MMC, April/Aries, my initals, Walt pics, love ones, hotels, etc.

And the etc. board lol... Robin Hood, D23, a few sets, Aristocats, a few others that didn't really belong anywhere or fit where they should be....

And those are all my pins, minus a few jumbo and sets I'm keeping in their box.

fantastic! Do you have all the boards together? Or are they scattered throughout your home?

This is making me want to go home and play with my pins rather than sit here at work )

Re: Show Off Your Pin Collection!

I don't have near as many pins as most of the people here, on account of my distance from the park and lack of finances to get there but once every couple years, but I would love to share what I have. About 70% were traded at the park while the rest are either eBay, Disneyshopping, or the now gone Disney Auctions.

This is a wide shot of my one and only board. I also have a few pins packed up, but those are mainly for trading on my trip in June.

Close up on the top half of the board.

            Close up on the bottom.

I hope you like them. A lot have some very cool memories to me. If you see one you are curious about, let me know. I have researched most of them.

Luckily, LB also took pictures of my pins too, so here they are:

Toy Story, Fastpasses, Scrooge, holidays, and miscellaneous pin sets.

Splash, Mansion, Toad, retro EPCOT, various attractions

Brian, you have a yoyoflamingo pin! Thanks for sharing!

FantasticDuck, they are all on the wall by the staircase that goes down to our basement. And trust me, there are times I am walking by and get distracted looking at them )

Re: Show Off Your Pin Collection!

Wow...nice pins everyone! I saw this thread about 5 minutes after I finished transferring a huge bunch of pins on their cards from one plastic container to another, larger container. I don't really have a good display system yet, so some are in a few of those large albums they sell at the parks, some are on lanyards and the rest are in the giant plastic box. I've taken photos of all of them and have some of them in my list on pinpics.

I'm always worried about displaying them. Do they seem to be ok that way and not get damaged in any way? I used to collect buttons or badges, the large ones like the 'happy birthday' or 'i'm celebrating' ones you get at the park, but after a few years on a corkboard they seemed to get sort of dullish and weird. I loves my pins! I can sit for hours and look at each one and remember where and when we got it...they all have memories attached. And some are just cool!

I love not only seeing all the great pins, but also the creative way you have displayed them. Thanks for the great pics and wonderful thread.
As nice as the other parks are, we must always remember that it all began at Disneyland. Disneyland should be the crown jewel in the Disney crown.

Wow ... I never realized how small my collection is until I've seen some others! Those are great collections.

I am heading to WDW in a couple of days so I'll post some pictures of my updated pin collections when I return.

Well the ones on the crown and the white board I've had on there since 2006, and they look ok. But the actual corkboard ones we've only had on since early this year. So far thy still look ok, but I will be keeping an eye on them!

Re: Show Off Your Pin Collection!

Perfect timing on this thread! Long time lurker, reclusive poster, but this fits in perfect with a project I started last month - Disney pin shadow boxes! We wanted a nice way to display all of our pins, so one day while wood working in the garage, I got this idea - and here are the three I've finished so far, which can fit the entire family's current collection (for now):

Left board is DD's, center is mine, and right is DW, except the ones still on her lanyard. However, we have two trips to Disneyland this October (DD turns 6, DW turns 29 + something, & 15th anniversary within 4 days, all in the park) and November (Thanksgiving), plus our first Disney Cruise next year, so this is sure to expand. Luckily I have the supplies to make at least two more right away...

Here's a picture of one from the back - you'll notice it was made using some plastic craft stuff of my wife's, about 10x15 (wish it were bigger...) - definitely gives the fabric plenty of support holding all the pins:

And this is how it goes together - four screws remove the top, and the entire center board slides out, allowing the frame to be securely secured to the wall, but leaving easy access to remove the pin board for additions, changes, temporary moves to lanyards for trips, etc:

So far, they're just unfinished pine, as we haven't decided where to put them yet, nor if we want to paint them to match a room or stain them the same light color as the cabinets in our home. I'm hoping to do better photo documentation on the next set of boxes I make, kind of a step by step process, if anyone would be interested in that...

Okay, thanks for letting me share my little collection, now back to those with MORE than 100 pins!

Wow... that's a really cool idea, and bonus points for making it yourself I'd love to see a step by step but only because it's interesting.. I have no crafty skill lol Using that plasticy stuff isa great idea though.
