  • Ellie Badge Madness!

I think I'm going to lose my mind! After pre-ordering two copies of the Up Blu-Ray for myself and my sister (and also to get the pin sets), they now come out with this awesome new interpretation of the Ellie Badge (this time with the safety pin attached). What's an UP fan to do?!? I so very much want this GWP pin, but can I really go out and by another Blu-Ray? I suppose that I could give it away as a Christmas present to someone else. But still...I'm becoming one of thos insane collector people that I said I wasn't going to be! I always told myself I would be a casual collector and that this would not take over my life!

Now I'm starting to wish I had only gotten one Blu-Ray from the Disneystore and waited to see what other promotions had been offered. Best Buy and Toys R Us were doing Dug plushes, which I'm find doing without. Target had a packaged journal.

Tomorrow I will go to Costco and see if they have the Blu-Ray with the Ellie Badge. However, I'm sort of hoping that they don't, just so I can be done and just live with my pre-order pins. Sheesh...can't you just make an open edition Ellie Badge for all of us Disney!

Incidentally, I found out that Disneystore.com also had some awesome 11/9 releases that quickly sold out. Would have loved to have had those as well...

 Yup... welcome to the insanity that is pin collecting/trading. I can't tell you how much I've ended up spending on eBay and such, finishing collections of certain pins or buying one then finding out it was part of a set then having to get all of the rest of them... when I said I wasn't going to be one of "those" people and just get a few of the ones I liked.... I think they put some kind of chemical on the pins, so that as soon as you touch just one, you become addicted!

I own the DSF version of the Grape Soda pin and yet I still want this Costco version as it has the safety pin!

      Good luck Pirate Tim!

Costco, eh? Wish I'd known this on Nov. 10th!!!!!!!!!!!! I may have to go over there anyway and see if I can find it. I'd happily sell or give away my Disney Store copy and pins for this one!

Well, this just annoys me. I've got my coupon and I'm all ready to go to WalMart and get my blu-ray/dvd set, and...this. I have wanted one of these pins since I saw the movie (it's got a special meaning for hubby and me) and I missed 'em at the soda fountain and no way can I pay what they want on eBay. I really can't afford to pay extra to get the Costco version either BUT I WANT THAT PIN!!
          *sigh*
Usually I collect pins just because I like them, so I haven't really hunted down elusive pins or completers. I guess this will be my "one that got away".

I know that these are not Disney, but, there are sellers on Ebay who have made their own grape soda pins, that have a pin on them. I think they are really cute. This one, for instance, is $3.49!

              Good morning, son
              In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
              It was pain
              Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

                Re: Ellie Badge Madness!

Hello fellow pin junkies! Fortunately for me, Disneystore, in its infinite patience was willing to accept the return of one of my Blu-Ray and pin sets. So after returning one Blu-Ray (w/pins) at Disneystore, I went and purchased a Blu-Ray from Costco. A note: only some of the Blu-Rays had the Ellie Badge. It was pre-packaged with the discs, and there was a separate box of Blu-Ray w/pin and ones without. (I believe these are limited.) Therefore, if you're really interested in getting one, I would recommend checking Costco sooner rather than later.

Brand42, I do agree that having the safety pin molded on is an interesting interpretation of the pin. It's cool how they can have different variations on the same item. (Also, the purple on this pin is very much a pastel/lilac color)

I Heart Disneyland, if your Blu-Ray is unopened, they will accept a return with pins at the Disneystore.

Snorkletsmom, I made my own Ellie Badge for my Russell Halloween costume. I am hoping to make more and would be happy to send you one once I've finished them. It's not an official Ellie Badge, but it would be something.

Final thoughts: the Costco pin is smaller and lighterweight than the dimensions of the DSF pin. It seems like it would be the perfect open edition version. It's a shame that they do not release this as an open edition (which is possible as these are not LE pins like the DSF or UK versions) that way everyone can have some version of the Ellie Badge. If there are any Disney product people reading...please release this in the parks! (Up is the second highest grossing Pixar movie; it deserves more merchandising love.)

pirateTim, I would LOVE a homemade pin! (or two, even) I'll reimburse you for costs, of course.

I'd still like an 'official' pin at some point, but the way things are going right now, it will be while.

I picked up the BluRay at Costco today, but I am thinking about returning it. I did not really like the pin and I can get the DVD/BluRay pack cheaper elsewhere.

You can use the $10 coupon at stores like WalMart. I bought it tonight, shelf price said $29.96, rang up at $19.96 (as I expected) and I used the coupon, making the price $9.96. I will also be sending for 2 rebates for a total of $9 back. Final price less than a dollar! (since hubby's been unemployed I've become a coupon expert)

If you do keep the pin but still don't like it, let me know, maybe we can arrange something? I'll have a handmade one (thank you pirateTim!) and would really like a dvd one, and eventually I hope to get one of the pins from the soda fountain. It will be some time before I'm able to think about that, though.

                        .
But, does WalMart have the Ellie pin with the DVD/BluRay? I thought it was just Costco. (Maybe I got lost somewhere.) I don't even really WANT the BluRay, I don't have a machine! If you don't like the pin, Melonballer, I may not either.

I got quite a lot of those Grape Soda pins from the UK for friends. I have friends in London and I got a bunch sent to me, because a lot of us didn't know about the release at the DSF, so, now, we all have the pin.

Hmmm. I got the pin yesterday at costco. The price is $28.99 for the DVD/BluRay set there.

I also picked up the same set at Walmart without the pin for just under $12 (including tax).

Here is a picture of the pin that comes with the costco set next to the one that came from Disneystore UK.

Something about the Costco pin does not appeal. Maybe it is the $20 price difference. I may end up returning it.

Oops, no, sorry, the WalMart was the 4-disc pack, 2 BluRay (one the movie, one the extras) 1 DVD and 1 Digital Copy disc. No pin. I believe Costco had the exclusive on the pin, like I think Target had the Journal, Disney Store had the 3 pin set, etc. It's just too difficult to find out who has what, or where it's the least expensive.

I couldn't agree more. I thought I had everything researched so well, but the Costco pin came out as a complete surprise!

Also, in case anyone was interested, Toys R Us had a mini-plush Dug free with Blu-Ray and I think that Best Buy had a purchase with purchase offer where you could get $10 off if you bought the Blu-Ray and Monsters Inc Blu-Ray, Dug plush, or Cars gift set(maybe?). Too many promotions to keep track of!!!

Hey...question...this $10 coupon everyone is talking about, will Costco accept that?

Btw (though not pin-related, if you're an UP fan in general)...Disneystore.com Outlet has Up t-shirts for $5.99 in most sizes. I was excited to discover this.
