  • [Question] Why haven't inside portholes been added to the two older ships?

It seem that many have guests have been loving the inside "portholes"
on the two new Disney cruise ships (in the inside cabins.)
So why hasn't Disney added them to the older boats?

Because neither ship has gone through a major refurbishment since the Dream class was introduced. That said the Magic may be heading for one in 2013. I don't remember the exact days but she will be in dry dock for six weeks in 2013. I suspect when she returns you'll see the inside portal windows.

I think it may be to make the bigger ships look better. The new ones, have better slides, the portals, interactive paintings. The old ones have nicer rooms. It's a little like two different classes in which neither is better.

For me the draw is really where the ship is going not which ship I'm taking.

I doubt it's a space issue. I mean CPUs and other hardware can be tiny, like a smart phone, and LCD monitors can be in a very thin case like on a lap top. On the indside cabins of the Wonder and Magic a circular mirror is on the wall and the portal screen in the same spot on the Dream and Fantasy. It would be easy to switch them out if they wanted to, but harder to get into the walls to run the cable that would supply the signal.
