  • Trip Report The Baloos weekend for the opening of Halloween

We had a fantastic weekend last weekend as I surprised the family with a trip to the Disneyland Hotel via Eurostar to see the DLP Halloween celebrations. Click here for a photo trip report:

Day 1 Morning - travel, arrival at DLP and the fun of the DLH including dancing with the characters.

    Login | Facebook

Day 1 PM - Some of the fab decor including Jack and Sally on parade

    Login | Facebook

Day 2 AM - sunrise over DLP, EMH and Pizza Planet

    Login | Facebook

Day 2 PM - Meeting Jack Skellington, the shows, Woody's Roung up at Halloween, Face Painting, and the Halloween Pre Parade - enjoy

    Login | Facebook

To explore, simply click on the link and then click next to move on to the next photo.

We had a fab time, though very exhausting. Halloween is my favorite time to go, but DLP was certainly packed.
Let's put the Walt back in Disney!

My wife wanted them on Facebook and told me "oh, ya, you can share them with people not on Facebook". I need to find another way for those not on FB.

Because that's the way you do things in '08. Very very gnarly and such.

It always surprises me the places those light rigs pop out from during a parade (I noticed one on the Main Street Station in the third picture). Ingenious, really. Although the Disneyland people hate them, of course.

Cool photos. The DLH is silly price wise but it does have lots of touches that kinda allow you to justify it to yourself.

Actually....it is almost worth the money to avoid the chaotic bag check each morning.

So...tell me about toiletries. Did the other hotels have specific packaging for each hotel? But the time I started to visit DLRP they were using the black Mickey themed stuff. I hope the rest are still using that at least (my last visit was to the DLH). I have a little collection at home and when I am feeling sad and blue I use it to give me that Disney feel. Just the smell reminds me of the Magic.

Stocks are running low however...Can I look forward to more at Hotel New York?

HNY has 2 types - the black ones, and some even nicer ones.

Come on.. anything that requires visitor to register too is just ugly business. Where are visitor pages? If I want an e-mail from hotmail, I don't have to register there. (e-mail? That's so 90s. Like text messaging.)

And Facebook is so '00. We've had equal social networking & face galleria since 2000 (around 10% of population is registered there). Of course Facebook is a huge multicontinent success, but never the less old idea that's been used long. And getting out of fashion.. (al least here).

..ok, back to Daves nice trip report! =)

Oh, because Paul "Satan" Pressler put them up there for Light Magic and they had to replace some iron cresting with solid plaster to hide them, or something. Ah, here's a picture.

Yes, I don't know how to use it either.

Facebook challenged...yep, that's me. Thanks for supplying something I can handle! The hotel looks great. Has the park done away with the Pink Witches?

Lol. No problem (I have now learned you can upload to photobucket and then port across the Facebook. That's what I will do next time.

Yep, no more Pink Witches (but they have repurposed some of the decorations to a degree).

Well Baloo.. I finally was able to see your photos and such and wanted to thank you for taking the time to post them. But where is the informative opinions to go with the pictures? I mean, you mentioned you had a fantastic weekend.. but why? What made it fantastic? What was Ok and was not? etc etc etc...
Also, yes, I have to say Facebook is not my prefered choice for sites either. I find Facebook to be a place for people who have no lives and feel the need to tell everyone who is willing to read anything online what they are up to doing at "this" very same moment. It's silly. As for using Photobucket..well it's a better choice but it would be even better if you just used photobucket's link feature and insert that here... that way we can see your photos on the post itself instead of going all the way to their site to see them. Saves time for the readers as the rewards of enjoying your pictures would be immediate. Use the bulk loader and just insert the links here. Remember.. this is not an outdated laughable place... as there is so much more you can do with this format.

One last question... as a parent, do your children ask you to dress them in costumes everytime they go to the Disney parks or is this something that parents feel it would be fun for the kids to do?
Or do the kids tell you is fun to dress up and want to do so and parents just go along with it? It intrigues me since I see many children in costumes at the parks and I get this nagging feeling the children do so as an expectation rather than a fun thing to do. Sometimes I feel parents do their kids a mis-service by putting them in costumes that seem.. well.. uncomfortable to wear, especially when going to places where you have to walk all over the place, and get in and out of ride vehicles.. etc etc. Your take on this please.
