  • WDSP: what's this space for? See?... right there...

    Hello,

I know that Toon Studios and the Tower of Terror are still a long way off but if you look aerial photographs from the WDS park (thanks to google Earth ) there seems to be a space just at the back of the Production Courtyard, between Cinemagique and the Disney Channel building.

Does anybody knows what the space for? Is it for a phase 3/4/5 or the park or is it just a storage area?

Gosh, the suspens is killing me... I just hope it's not goanna turn up into a meet-and-greet area )

That space is a meet and greet with a little stage where they used to do a Sister Act gospel show when the park first opened. That's not to rule that something else could be built in that area (that is if the new walkway and parking garage behind Gaumont Cinemas and Disney Village is not there yet. Hard to say without a link to the aerial photo you are talking about.

Originally this area was for a Soundstage Building included with Disney Channel but due to budget cuts they decided to remain this area empty for future project .

After the park opened they had the TOT project to open in 04 and then Buzz Lightyear Lazer Blast located between Cinemagique and Disney Channel the Building for a Buzz Ride would fit perfectly .

Those projects changed once again and then Buzz moved to Disneyland Park to replace Visionarium and that circle Vision Version were already bult at Tokyo and California so they just had to copy those ride project instead to built a new building .

i bet that WDI will decide to bult a new thing one day .

Yeah I know the area you are talking about. For a while it was rumored something was going in there when the parking garage construction started. )

I bet someday it'll be something. How soon that times comes...I don't know.

You can see on the attached map that it was originally going to be 'Sound Post Production'

There are all sorts of rumours flying about as to what might go in that space now, but I can tell you pretty definitely that the sound studio idea is dead. A pity really, as it could have been an interesting attraction - my manager once told me that it would have involved adding sound effects to a silent film starring Rowan Atkinson, of Mr. Bean and Blackadder fame.
So, what to do with the space? I'd like to see a simple "making of" attraction go in there. It would be quick and simple to build, you could change the contents every year, and you'd only need two Cast Members to operate it. What say you all?

I'd say an actual attraction or show would work better. It wouldn't be changed out every two years but it shouldn't have to be.
