  • [Chat] Life behind the scenes at DLP - Cast Member interview

Hello folks. Given the current fuss surrounding the management and future of Disneyland Paris, I thought you might like to hear an in-depth interview with a former Cast Member (your's truly) about living and working in the heart of the magic.

I was a guest on the latest episode of the terrific Dedicated to DLP podcast and had a great time talking about my experiences. We cover lots of ground, including the training that Cast Members receive (and whether recent cut-backs in that area are responsible for some of the problematic attitudes that many CMs seem to display these days), the problems faced by the Walt Disney Studios Park during its first year of operation, the drastic solution that Disney proposed, the things that Imagineering wanted to improve but couldn't afford and lots more.

Please bear in mind, it's been a few years since I worked there so the interview doesn't touch directly on the hot-button topics of the moment, but it should hopefully give a decent insight into what life at the resort is like - sometimes hard but sometimes simply brilliant.

So take a listen and let me know what you think: Dedicated to DLP – Celebrating Disneyland ParisDedicated to Disneyland Paris Podcast Episode 21 Cast Member Interview

Peter, it was fun hearing your experiences working at DLP, especially working at the WDS near the beginning of it's existence.

Hey, AtomicBear. Glad you liked it! It was certainly fun reliving so many memories - my time at Disney was very special. Even the hard stuff!

Peter, just signed up to say I thought that was a really interesting interview! Lots of cool information there, a lot of which was new to me. I particularly enjoyed your stories of working on RnRC as it's my favourite attraction.

I would certainly love to hear you do more interviews like this sometime!

Thanks for such a positive comment, Jamesss. The podcast has been getting some good feedback, which is a real encouragement! I'd love to do another one and there's already some talk of inviting me back to recount a few more experiences and offer some thoughts on the resort's current predicament. I think I only covered half the material I'd prepared in that first interview!

Cheers, Mark! Sounds like I might be nabbing your co-host spot while you're away in Orlando.
