News Space Mountain Refurbishment (January 12, 2015 to July 2015)

Space Mountain Mission 2 will be refurbished from January 12, 2015 to July 24, 2015. At the end of the refurbishment, the ride will be renamed Space Mountain.

This refurbishment will be in two phases. Phase I will be a technical refurbishment. Phase II will bring "From the Earth to the Moon" back.

New trains are said to be delayed. The top of the trains would not fit.

I also read the theming would not be changed. However this could change after the vote in january. Money can not be spend if it is not there (yet). Not sure at all.

They're not delayed but postponed to Phase II. This refurbishment will be in two phases.

Surely the theming is fine? They would have to re-theme the whole of discoveryland!

It has been re-themed once already. It's more the story that they're changing rather than the actual theme.

Space Mountain is now under refurbishment. Please note that Les Mysteres du Natilus and Videopolis Theater also are under refurbishment. Videopolis Theater will host Jedi Training Academy from July 2015.

Just got back from DLP an hour ago, I went on Space Mountain one last time on Sunday. Looking forward to it reopening, shall be there on the day it does!

I hope they return Space Mountain and Videopolis to it's former glory. I have great memories of this area of the park but when I visited last year it was in a sorry state. Videopolis was just showing some films and felt like a giant depressing fast food outlet. I think they owe it to Tim Delaney to return the area he created back to it's magical ways.
