If you have any VHS versions of Beauty and the Beast which I think were released circa 1992-3, you can catch a short 15-sec promo for the forthcoming EuroDisney Resort in France. Hmph.
The entire ad is based upon footage from Walt Disney World. We start by zooming down Main Street, USA, underneath Cinderella Castle (no Sleeping Beauty Castle to be seen) and seeing a Broadway style show of Beauty and the Beast - very a la Disney-MGM Studios. There are shots of a man playing golf, and a family playing around in the pool at Disney's Yacht Club - all the way from WDW! Ok, so the ad isn't finished yet - maybe at least one shot of Euro Disney?
No.
But in possibly a forewarning to the EuroDisney castle, we see a hotel assistant opening up the French doors and the family he is guiding are amazed at a wonderful view of Cinderella Castle. A pink Cinderella Castle. The advertising tech wizs had coloured the Florida Cinderella Castle a majestic (yeah right) but very kitsch pink. Give me strength.
If you have BatB on original VHS, or any other Disney feature released on VHS between say 1992 and up to Euro Disney's opening, see if the promo is a part of the viewing schedule. Seeing is believing.
