Yours truly was fortunate enough to visit DLP this past Friday Oct 6th and attended a very special preview of this year's Halloween parade "La Parade Des Mechants" or Villains' Parade.
As has been the case, DLP is once again overtaken by those ugly pumpkin men props that are simply messy and a bit too garrish in regards to the overall feel of the park. This is most obvious on Main Street and Frontierland. I personally do not care for this overlay since it just feels as generic as anything you can find in any other theme park around. But hey.. some claim this is what rocks the locals' senses, then so be it. But honestly, I feel it misses the mark in regards to this being a "disney" park.
Anyhow... The parade is cute but I felt it didn't live up to the standards I remember when I first saw it several years ago...as if some of the moving props had been replaced with just walking characters who were not even in halloween outfits or costumes.. A major fauz-pas for a "seasonal event" parade. Still, it's nice to see a villains' take on the same old tired floats we have been seeing for over a decade at DLP. This park is so ripe for a brand new parade.. and I sure hope the 15th anniversary delivers on that need.
Anyways... since not much related to halloween was going on since the event didn't officially begin until the next day when I was there... I took some photos from around the park, inside IASW, and even from the neighboring Walt Disney Studios Paris, where a lot of construction is underway in preparation for the TOT and Toon Studios.
Here are the photos... for your enjoyment.
