  • What can people tell me about the Pirates refurb?

We just booked our first DLP trip for June of next year. The park seems to have gone on a tear in the last year refurbing just about everything and I read that POTC is next, going under the tarps in January until 'summer'. Not that it really matters, we're already booked and coming, but it would be nice to know: What does the park mean by 'summer'?

I think it's vague on purpose, as it is the only attraction on the refurbishment calendar that has no precise opening month. There are rumours of several changes to the ride itself, including a new mermaid scene at the end. I guess they have not still figured out when it will come out of refurbishment, but I guess they will aim to July at the latest as it is the beginning of the school holiday season.

I'm hoping for a scene with real live performers. Hearing it may happen. If I hear anything more I'll pass it on. Also check out the permits and rehab threads or the actual city permit sites. They have good detail at times.

I find this quite unfeasable. With the extra-magic hours, this means that they would need actors to be constantly on stage from 8 AM to midnight in the summer, which I find impossible. Although, in all fairness, the dueling pirates have been gone for so long that it would be an actual alternative to consider.

Well it is one of the options for the other parks with this ride too. There are plenty of shifts of singers and dancers in all parks. The performers on shift would simply rotate 15-30 min shifts, depending on the challenge of the performance. We are talking like 3 shifts of 5-10 people. Not unfeaseable and there would also be times where the singing is simply dark.
