  • Disneyland Paris Parade Float

So i was on Google Earth, and notice that Disneyland Paris has SO many Parade floats, that they park 15 outside! wow! So just wondering, since the park isnt allowed to have fireworks, do they try and make it up in parades?!

** sorry not best of pictures**

Most of those floats are for use in the regular day time parade. And I think by them not adding a more regular night time parade just proves that its just a case of not wanting to. The real problem is that during certain times of the year DLRP won't keep the park open past dark, except on Weekends. As a nightly parade would require a new set of contracted performers its just too costly to hold a night time parade for only 2 days a week.

Hmmm, I feel like I have to put this in some sort of context. It's not quite as dramatic as this. True, the parks close a little on the early side in the off seasons, and Fantillusion, besides being reportedly shorter than its original Tokyo incarnation, is boring.

But DLP also has its version of Wishes, which is a very competent and enchanting show that, besides projections, lasers and the such, makes adequate use of the low key fireworks they're allowed to use. DLP has always had a nightly fireworks display in summer seasons (all low key of course), and even the previous show (Tinkerbell's Fantasy in the Sky) was less than awful with its clever appearance of Tinkerbell. Furthermore, it has always had the most brilliant Christmas lighting ceremonies of all the parks.

The grand displays of the American parks are obviously sorely missed, but it's not quite that bad.

All those floats have been destroyed, including the ones of the Wonderful World of Disney Parade that were used up to last year, with the exception of Cinderella's carriage, the Snow White and Santa Clause floats.

in addition to raptor1982, the floats on this picture are old floats and are in the buffer zone waiting to be destroyed or redesigned on that specific picture.... (which has been done allready)... the dumbo-floats from the old parade have been repainted and re-used as the "Character express"... a small, one float happening that alowes many meet and greets throughout main street and central plaza in a very quick pace (for the CM's, not for the guests)

the park IS allowed to have fireworks (can't understand why anyone would think otherwise or where that rumor came from), isn't making up in parades (they've used the same parade for at least 10 years) and has been doing better and better since the first company make-over (they have been making money big time for the past 12 years, enough to keep the balance positive, just not enough to repay all old depts, which they seem to completly fullfill in the next two years)

Why are almost all the old parade floats beying destroyed? I think that's a waste of the material. It's not like those floats are THAT old, right?

Isn't there an area in DL where old stuff like this can be purchased by CMs? Does DLP not do this too?
              WDW - 1987 & 1991
              DLP - 1996, 2004, 2006 & 2007
              DLR - October 2011

To the credit of DLRP some floats have been kept and reused like the Dumbo float which is now part of the Character Express train. I also think one of the floats was used during Halloween. I wouldn't be suprised to see the Resort keep some of the parts for future events. Disney won't throw anything away that can be used later on.

                  Re: Disneyland Paris Parade Float

A couple of the original floats from DLP's opening day parade were re-dressed and used during Halloween time as a preshow to the current Dreams parade. As for them being old... well.. they kinda fate as far back to 1992. Also, is there any proof they really destroy some of these floats?

To make you all feel better, TDR does not seem to get rid of old floats but re-dress their chassis and send them out with a totally different look. WDW's floats appear to be the oldest since we have been seen the same old floats (from as far back as the Tencennial parade mind you!) go down Main Street over and over and over...and slightly re-dressed for holiday and event parades... but they do not try hard to hide the fact they are the same old floats we have all seen before. The shame..

Hi I'm a french Annual Passholder of Disneyland Resort Paris sorry for my english,

Just to say that you are wrong on one point,

YES the park legally is allowed to have fireworks but the neighborhood complains about the noises so DLP make real fireworks only on special events (31st december, 14th July (national day), St Patrick...).

But you are totally wrong the resort hadn't make money for the moment, the balance is still negative and it may become positive only this year. About the old depts they are still here and we may begin to fullfill it (about 2 billion)
