  • Video Painting the Sky at Disneyland

A really cool video I found on youtube showcasing a bit of behind the scenes magic on how fireworks come to light up the sky.

I can tell you that backstage its a very different feel. You see the pyro towers coming in, and at certain times CMs are prohibited from being outside near them. The TDA building goes essentially on a lockdown during the duration of the show! Its remarkable how they can get so many shells and effects, SAFELY, in an area that wasn't designed for it. There are workshops all over the backstage and for there to never be an incident or fire is just terrific.

Wow, amazing stuff. Thanks for the posting!
Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.

The part of the vid where they are lighting the pyro with road flares was cool to see. I always find it interesting to see how much Disney has evolved with their fireworks shows. Nice find!

Anyone know where the control booth shown in the beginning is located? Looked like it was behind the top of a facade on Main Street somewhere (about 0:48).

Awesome video, thanks for sharing it with us!

Did he say that they use over 1000 pieces each show?

                    I think not...

If you think about it, it could be possible. Think of the 'fan' firework that emminates from behind the castle, that has quite a few in it. If you count that as one piece, then probably not, but I imagine each 'launched' object is considered a piece.

I will try to find out for sure.

He does say over 1,000 products, so not individual shells, but the entire count of items that get shot off. According to what i heard, its 652 individual 'shells'.

I'm sure he did not just pull that number out of the sky...

I'm not sure if the fireworks show is much different at WDW or DLR but WDW they say they use 683 Pieces..
