  • Nighttime DL / DCA pics

Here are some pics I've taken over the last few years that I like. Thought I would share.

My personal favorite, because it has lots of colors plus you can never go wrong with things that explode!

I have lots of great pictures of Disneyland during the day time, since my digital camera takes crappy night time photos. What would be a suggestion for an affordable yet great quality camera? Also, I have a shot of the castle during the fireworks show as a background on my cell phone's sub display in the front. On the main display is a shot of the matterhorn.... Coolest cell phone backgrounds ever...

My digi cam is not the highest quailty. It's an olympus (360D 3.0 mega pixels...I think?) It takes great pictures night and day. The night shots can be a bit tricky, because Of camera movement. It helps to have a steady hand or use a tripod. I'm hoping to get a digi SLR soon. I LOVE my film SLR.

Anything nikon or canon. I would suggest a Nikon Coolpix 4300 or better. I have a Sony 5 MP and while the optics are great the colors are not so good. I took the most of these (except the IASW picture) with a Nikon coolpix 995 (3.3 MP).

I like the way the canon powershots look, but I don't anything about the quality. What about the cameras that have a lot of different colors and look sleek, almost like fish?

Oh those are beautiful. Here are a two of mine.

                    And of Disneyland

I have a Sony 5 MP. But the castle photo here was taken with film and the DCA with an old 2MP generic.

 Hmmm. not much of a multi color fish style camera expert. I think I'd go with a nikon

I have a Canon PowerShot A70, and I'm extremely happy with it! The models in that series are generally $300 or less, and they can take some great pictures. Nighttime photos are my favorite ones to take in the park! The auto setting isn't great for night shots, but if you have a basic grasp of aperture and shutter speeds and can use the manual setting (or just play with it and learn!) you can get some awesome night shots with it. For examples, all of my photos here were taken with that camera: http://xfkirsten.fotopic.net/ (the 1/29, 12/12, and 11/20 folders have a lot of night shots in particular)

                            I like my Olympus!
                            No, I LOVE my Olympus!

Be careful with the whole Digital SLR thing. It's A LOT more expensive than it first appears... those lenses are extremely expensive, and they are NOT equivilent in mm as their film counterparts. Do the research and do the math!

Also, Digital SLR's cannot take movies. Not an issue for some, but it's awfully handy to have for those quick snippets. And the nicer Digital Camera's now have EXTREMELY good digital video capabilities, not like their younger (and cheaper) counterparts.

I know it's not Disney, but we just got a Canon A380 (3.2 Megapixel) and we love it.

We took the following picture at Sea World:

Just an example of the vibrant colors we got from a relatively inexpensive Digital. We got the camera and a photo printer for about $350 at Best Buy.

I Just Got A Canon Poweshot S410 (4MP Digital Elph) The only problem I have with it is when it is taking up close shots and red eye. Other than that it takes absolutely amazing pictures. None of Disneyland ......yet.

I'm addicted to Disneyland. Disneyland hobbies are expensive.
If I become a bum people are going to say "Don't give him money, he's just gonna use it on Disneyland."

True. I have a friend that has over $10,000 in just lenses. If you want to take action shots, like sports or something you will need an SLR because the buffers are big and very fast, and when you push the button its instant. on my digital cameras there is a slight delay... Oh, if you want a digital SLR where the lense are film equivilent, canon has one with a full frame sensor: http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/con...&modelid=10598.
                                      Unfortunately they are like $6,000

                                        Thanks, yours are great, too.

Considering you can get a really really good almost-SLR for well under $1,000 that has very wide angle and zoom capabilities (and a focus ring and aperture ring!) it's hard to spend the money on even a Canon Digital Rebel (IMO). My Olympus has a 22mm equivilant and while it only zooms to about 130mm, it's 8 megapixel, so I can zoom in about as much as I'd want with cropping/enlarging digitally in photoshop.

I chose a camera with the widest angle I could get because I more often found myself wishing I could zoom out just a little bit more, but never wished I had gotten closer to a subject. Thus I can get shots like the whole castle from very close-up and all the busts from HM while practically right in front of them. I bought the zoom lens add-on for my camera just in case, and haven't pulled it out of it's bag but once to try it out.

My camera was just over $600 on line (delivered).
