  • [Question] 3rd gate westcot or disneysea?

Would you want the 3rd gate of disneyland resort to be westcot or disneysea?

Please make it Disneysea! That is the park that I most want to visit, it looks amazing, but I would rather that they completely fix DCA first before they even think about adding another park.

Right now, I doubt Disney would build either of those parks at the DLR.

If I had to choose one, I'd go with DisneySea just becuase of the high level of detail and design of the park.

I don't know a thing about either of them. Is there anywhere I can go to see concept art, etc.?

I don't think either of these will ever happen.

How about something unique and original?

                Thank You.

Why does everything have to be copied? I mean seriously. What about like a Disney Aquarium or like a Disney Country Park (As in having countries being lands with regional rides to go with it).

Isn't a Disney Aquarium like DisneySea? LoL!

Because you'd end up with California Adventure. I thought it was a cool concept for a new park. What they planned on paper sounded great, but didn't turn out so well in real life unfortunately.

I'd love something new and unique if they're able to pull it off well, good example would be DisneySea in Tokyo. Sure, it would be easy to build a clone of the park, but even then, that won't be the same, and have several differences that could ruin the park. If they do a 3rd park, I'd like to see a villains theme park, which was a rumored park for WDW that I heard was scraped for an 'exclusive' park.

How about another original park like DCA was.

Well if those are my two choices I would go with Disney Sea. I have been to Tokyo Disney Sea and it is without a doubt the most immersive, and breath-takingly beautiful theme park I have ever seen. A couple of years ago I was invited to Japan to do a series of public appearances/lectures. I got to spend a half a day at Tokyo Disney Sea, and my heart has been longing to return ever since. Oh my gosh, that place is incredible!

Now, having said that...I really don't think that it could be done justice in California. I'm going to guess that the land available in Anaheim is not nearly as big as what was alotted for TDS in Tokyo. And one thing that makes TDS work so well is that it is built right on Tokyo Bay. It has the bay as a backdrop. And I truly doubt that the Walt Disney Company is ever going to cough up as much money to build a 3rd gate in California and the Oriental Land Company did to fund TDS. They went all out and seemingly spared no expense. So the concept would get scaled down and trimmed back considerably from what was built in Japan.

(By the way, Al Lutz did a brilliant article a while back comparing and contrasting the construction and results of TDS and DCA.)

If they Disney finally decide to build a 3rd gate in California I would hope for something original.

Westcot, predominatly the World Showcase. I think it could be done well with what space they have to work with. Just skip Future World since Tommorrowland is so close and in need of so much attention.

Well, there is quite a difference between the 2.

I agree. I mean, I seem to remember back in the mid 1980's discussion of a "Westcot" of sorts.....that was in the years when Disney Channel was a Premium station and they had a TV Show called "Epcot Magazine"......that's when I recall banter about a WESTCOT of sorts....
