  • [Fun] The Disneyland Attraction Character Database

Kudos to Disney Bacon for the idea! This thread is a single, unified place for us to develop a list of all characters present in Disneyland attractions. These can be original characters or characters from films, but they must be manifested in ways that are at least semi-permanent. In other words, seasonal overlays are okay, but cast members who tend to play certain roles are not. (Nothing against CMs!)

If you think of any that are not on the list - and you should at first, at least, since I'm just adding a few examples for the time being - post them, and I'll edit them into this post. And if anyone's got a problem with the format, let me know. We'll try to get this set up in a way that works for everyone.

    Main Street, USA

    Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln
    * Abraham Lincoln: Sixteenth president of the United States of America; delivers his famed Gettysburg Address. Temporarily retired.

    Adventureland

    Indiana Jones Adventure

    *
Indiana Jones: Archeologist and adventurer who discovers the Temple of the Forbidden Eye and must rescue tourists from its perils. Also known as Henry Jones, Jr. or Indy.
    * Sallah: Indy's faithful friend; helps guide tourists through the Temple of the Forbidden Eye.

    Tarzan's Treehouse
    * Tarzan: Man who was raised by gorillas in Africa and faces identity crisis when he finally meets fellow humans.

    New Orleans Square

    Critter Country

    Frontierland

    Fantasyland

    Mickey's Toontown

    Tomorrowland

Re: The Disneyland Attraction Character Database

I'm not really sure what purpose this list would serve? Other than a humongous list of things. Perhaps you need to establish more rules than just "characters". Is the Big Thunder Mountain goat a character? Is the dog holding keys in Pirates of the Caribbean a character? Is the talking skull and crossbones a character?

This could really get messy fast if you don't set some sort of boundaries.

But to start, I'll offer an example of how it can get messy:

    Star Tours
    in the queue:
    -R2-D2
    -C-3PO
    -Mon Calamari
    -G2-9T
    -R5-D2
    -G2-4T
    -DL-X2
    -R4-M9
    -WEG-1618

    In the pre-board safety video
    -Chewbacca
    -Teek
    -Mon Calamari
    -Ree-Yees
    -Ewoks

    On the ride:
    -RX-24 (rex)
    -X-Wing pilot

    Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters
    -Buzz Lightyear
    -Emperor Zurg
    -Etch
    -Aliens

    Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage
    -Darla
    -Seagulls
    -THE ENTIRE CAST!!!

Put Queenie, Ezra, Phineas, and Gus down for New Orleans Square.

EDIT: Coheteboy has a point. IMO, the list should consist of characters who really stick to a part and people can recognize without going "huh?". Half of the robots CB put I don't even know who they are.

          Isn't she [Queenie] a cast member/performer?

            My bad!

To compensate for that, I say we put in the Redhead Buy-A-Bride

EDIT: This is going to be fun.

Yeah...you know, actually, the more I think about this, the more impractical it seems... I am proud of myself, though...in creating this thread, I did something without thinking very much about it! That's not something I'm very good at. )

Oh...I thought the idea was to keep record of characters walking around the park. I mean, I assumed so since the original thread says:
This site should create a character database, telling were we can find each character in Disneyland, if they're retired or not, where to find, them, etc.
The bolded piece just made me think costumes.

I think the "messy-ness" should make this thread fun

I think he meant more on the lines of characters taken out of their attractions or who have had their attractions removed. (i.e. Lincoln, Blackbeard, Captain EO, etc.)

Thank you Datameister! Now people will know about this idea, instead of a thread in a dead part of the forums...

Now, I'd really LOVE to transfer this into Webpage form...does anyone know of any database programs which I could easily update and such?

I mean Characters that walk around. As in, right now, Jack and Sally are signing autographs...Mickey Mouse has many costumes and walks in certain places...thats what I was going for. When I go to Disneyland, it would be cool to say "Oh, this time of year so-and-so is out in New Orleans Square..."

Ah, okay...in that case, you wanna start the thread? I probably shouldn't have done this in the first place...I honestly have no idea what I was thinking. )
