That kinda sucks. 54" to drive a car on a track at a slow speed? What caused the change in height regulations?

Because the vast majority that want to ride solo can't keep the pedal down to make it around the track. Raising the height requirement will not alleviate this, but it will help.

What happened to the double gas peddles? They should have stuck with that, then everyone can drive.

Oh! Ok. Thanks. What was the height to drive solo before?

              Taken from the Disneyland website:

Bumping may occur. Expectant mothers and children under 12 months should not ride. In order to ride alone, you must be at least 52" tall.
IMO, 48 inches would be enough to ride alone.

In my experience, even as a late teenager, the peddles on the 2000-present Autopia cars are notoriously hard to push (and keep down). So for the kids that can drive.. even when reaching the peddle is no longer an issue, it's still very hard to keep tennis shoes or flipflops, with little or no traction, pressing on the darned thing.

In my opinion, the blame is on the Autopia cars, not the guests.

Is 54 inches for drivers really going to make a positive difference on the Autopia rails compared to the 52 inch mark? All I see is another two inches' worth of unjust exclusion in a place billed as "your land."

I don't see how this is really going to help anything concerning Autopia, I mean, I only ever really wanted to drive on this when I was very young, raising the height just excludes more people who could be plenty old. : |

                    Re: Autopia [Height Check Raised]:

I'm soo glad to hear they changed this. It is actually quite tough for most kids who just barely reached the old height requirement. Pushing down the pedal takes 40 lbs of pressure, so there are constantly kids who get stuck half way through the track because their leg gets too tired. With only 1 cast member on track it is very hard for us to go run around the track, find the car that is having trouble, and help them out without any other cars getting backed up. So hopefully this height change will keep things moving more smoothly.

I really don't think raising the height requirement is going to do all that much to help congestion on the track.....

I don't see how 2 inches is going to help, but for the longest time, I couldn't get the darn thing down. I had my dad ride with me, and he pushed the petal and I drove. I think that would be easier, like, you must be such and such height, and have an adult push the petal, and such and such to ride completly alone.
