I'm not sure 100% if this was noted or not previously here (I did a search but couldn't find anything), but the giant meteor that was unlit in Space Mountain is gone.

What I'm wondering is...what the heck did they end up doing with it?

I'm not sure but I thought the dinosaurs in the diorama looked a bit nervous.

Hahahahahahahaha. As to the meteor, I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about. Wasn't it taken out during the refurb?

I think what pineapplewhipaddict is referencing is the meteor that appears right after the second tunnel lift. When the ride turns left, a meteor is actually by your side. I've noticed it several times.

As for it gone....don't know. Need more info.

Ive always noticed it and wonder why they have it there and never light it. If its really gone im not too shocked it just sat there.

Umm ... as of yesterday it was there. Unless it was taken out last night ...

if I remember correctly, with the meteor lit up it was too light inside the mountain during testing.

Perhaps we could replace the 500-watt flood lamp with a 50-watter instead?

The official press release for the reimaineered Space Mountain mentioned guests being thrown into hyperspeed after narrowly missing a meteor after launch.

I found it funny that thought the effect was installed during the refurb but was never used. Even on the day of opening.

I mean the physical, three-dimensional ball that slowly rotated (not the projection).

When I turned to look at it's original spot, I saw a giant gap with some sort of metal square-shaped frame just sitting there, looking lonely.

After riding the Hong Kong space mountain, I wish they would turn on the meteor in Anaheim. It is kinda impressive.

I didn't know it existed until I rode HK, then returned and looked for it in Anaheim.
