UPGRADE

The forums will be upgraded to the latest software version on 9/26/17 at 9:30pm PDT. The upgrade should only take a few minutes. During the upgrade you might experience errors, but they will go away once the upgrade is completed. This is not the upgrade/move we have been discussing for the past few months. This is just normal, minor maintenance. Thank you.

  • [Question] Characters Question

So, this might have been asked when the first "talking" character heads at WDW came out, but does anyone know if Disneyland has a chance at getting some of those? Although creepy at first i think it adds a little more realism and magic to Disneyland.

    Re: Characters Question

Well, we don't really have any need for them because there isn't any stage-type show that includes those characters. Any info at all would be appreciated, though.

I, for one, wasn't a fan of the moving faces. It was just...weird >< I like Mickey's mouth not moving while he talks, thank you

Just for clarification, this like the Jack Skellington head and Old Hag (in Fantasmic!)?

The new heads they use for Dream Along with Mickey are very cool, however, I believe those are only for the show, and we wouldn't have much use for them outside of the brief moments Mickey speaks in Fantasmic!

I think this would be AWESOME in any Disney stage show (like Fantasmic!) but not in the silent meet and greets.

We saw a "talking" Goofy at the Christmas parade filming last year; it was interesting but I don't think I liked it enough to bring it into wide use at DL.

                              Re: Characters Question

Judging from that video, I'm actually not bothered by the moving mouths. It takes a little getting used to, but I think if we'd all grown up with the mouths moving like that, the frozen mouths you currently see would look really unnatural and cheap.

And yes, IIRC, there's been talk of technology that modifies the actor's voice in real time to better match that of the original character. Not 100% positive on that...don't quote me.
