  • Are the tarps and construction really that bad?

If you remember my last ill-fated thread (I found an extra ticket so that whole thing is moot, in case you were wondering) I'm going to DL in a week or so with one of my friends. After reading Al's update from today, though, it seems like the whole park is covered in tarps and scaffolds, which is understandable. I'm just wondering if all the construction is horrible and if I should reschedule my trip or if it's not really as bad as the pictures seem to say, basically. If you've been there in the last few days, I would appreciate comments!

Also, as an aside: The park is going to look absolutely amazing once they've painted everything and all the rides are up and running. I might actually brave the crowds to see it (which is something I normally wouldn't do; I absolutely loathe Disneyland when it's crowded). It's just a shame it took an occasion for them to do all this upkeep that wouldn't have needed to be done all at once if they'd done it over the years, I guess.

It's not all that bad if you are a regular, areas are hard to get around, some paths are closed, tarps aren't pretty, crowds are heavier.....but it's still Disneyland.....depends how far you are coming and how much you are spending.
Mom, remember, it's not what a person is like on the outside that counts,
it's what they are like in their HEART!

About an hour. But I'm going with a friend, and it's her birthday, you see.

Actually, it has gotten much better than it has been (imagine the Castle under tarps!). And, everything that is out from under the tarps is looking better than it has in years. The big drawback right now for me is the Main Street train station. I'd go, but then I would really want to be sure I could be there for the 50th celebration.

Go for it, especially for someone's Birthday....The Railroad down is a real inconvience though, usually use that to save on some walking time.
