  • [Other] Disneyland Attraction posters

I wanted to say thank you to those of you who gave me info on buying Disneyland attraction posters. We bought them on our trip in December and I got them framed after Christmas. I think they turned out great, especially since I only paid $90 to have all three framed! I was very impressed with the quality of the posters and would love to buy more. I wanted to post pics but it said I couldn't post attachments...maybe because I'm not a Gold Member. Anyway below is a link to the pics on myspace. Thanks again!

They have kiosks located on Main Street in the Disneyana store and also in the World of Disney Store in Downtown Disney. At the Disneyana store when you purchase the prints they are shipped to you. The World of Disney store has a "Print on Demand" option where you can receive them the same day, but the printer was down when we were visiting. The size I purchased was the 30 x 40" size ($55). This is the size of the paper not the image, so the extra white paper can be cut down and installed in a standard size 24 x 36" frame. This was how I was able to save on framing. Our local Hobby Lobby was having a 50% off sale and with a ready made frame the installation was free!

            Re: Disneyland Attraction posters

But don't do what I did on my last visit. I was going to pick up a couple for Christmas presents.

I didn't know that at the Disneyana store, they would ship.

So, not wanting to have to carry them around, and figuring that they wouldn't go well in my rented locker, and not wanting to schlep them out to the car and come back, I waited til park closing to make my purchase.

I assumed that Disneyana would stay open with the other Main Street shops for the extra hour.

Nope. I stopped by 30 minutes after the announced park closing time, and they were closed.

As was the World of Disney. Why doesn't that store stay open later?

Guess I'll be getting belated poster gifts on my next visit.

                Re: Disneyland Attraction posters

From what I understand, if you buy them from the World of Disney Store you would need to purchase them in the morning and they would be available to pick up later in the day.

I had originally had planned to do the print on demand instead of having them shipped, but it ended up working out well. By the time I got home from my trip(2 days later) I had a e-mail saying they had shipped and I received them within a week. When I purchased them from Disneyana store, it claimed to allow 2-3 weeks for shipping, but I guess they weren't busy. Strange since it was a couple of weeks before Christmas.

I wish now I had looked at what other posters they had available. I already knew what I wanted before I came and just ordered them and didn't look at the others. I ended up loving them much more than I thought and now want more for other areas in my home!

I only wish they would do these in the actual size as the ones in the entrance tunnels. I missed my chance at a HM full size one years ago, and have kicked myself for it ever since.

Pretty cool. It's not as good as my Peoplemover one of course!

The actual-size versions of the earlier posters (everything done after 1980 was smaller) are way too big to hang conveniently in most homes, and they cost a fortune to frame because no one makes a pre-made frame that big. The smaller sizes they sell now are much more convenient for most purchasers.

My good friend picked up a Haunted Mansion one in 2002-2004. it is a full-size attraction poster, and it was pretty expensive.

Most of my Disney art was expensive to frame, especially the stretching portraits!

We have quite a few of the original attraction posters framed and at least in Southern California you can find specialty framing places that do something called "museum mount". They basically lay the poster on foam core, then put some sort of archival stretchy plastic over that and edge the thing with tape that comes in about 12 different colors. They look great. We have the Rivers of America poster over the bed, and the Adventure Thru Inner Space in the dining room. My mom has a bunch framed that way, too. Allan Jeffries Framing in LA does it for us locally if anyone is interested. It's not terribly expensive either -way under $100 if I'm not mistaken!

The bear band bears are playing now, in the good ol' key of G.
There's Zeke and Zeb and Ted and Fred and bear named Tennessee...
