  • [Question] Any Pics of the StarSpeeder 3000 Cabin?

Hey, I'm trying to recreate the Star Tours show building in Hammer SDK (Half Life 2 mapping program) and I'm stuck with the Speeder itself. I'm looking for some interior/cabin shots for a reference to map off.

Any help with these pictures would be great.

    Cheers.

That scan of the ride building was very interesting!

There may be other places, but they do show up on eBay every once in a while. Got a few good ones that way, including the one Steve Martin shows in the 50th film (the one Donald crashes through).

Just search Disneyland blueprints...although WDW attractions/buildings come up far more often than DL's.

How much detail do you want to achieve? You won't be able to get it spot on with Hammer. You'd be better off learning (if you don't know it yet) XSI Mod tools and then exporting it as a model and importing it into Hammer. That's what I'm doing for my Indy model, which is also built using Hammer, and for Garry's Mod.

The level of detail you can achieve by using XSI is soooo much better than doing it with Hammer. Also, if you do continue with building it in Hammer, keep in mind that there are limits for how many planes and faces the compiler will compile. I had that problem with the EMVs for Indy, hence why I redid them in XSI. The pic in my sig is of what I've done in XSI.

Hope that helps, but sorry I don't have any pics!

Does it have to be XSI? Im a Maya user. What about Modo? Do you have to export to some proprietary format for hammer or would .obj or .fbx work?

                    Thanks

I'm not sure, I've never worked with Maya. The file needs to be exported as an .SMD file, and then the model compiler for the game uses the SMD file to create the model. It really uses 3 SMD files to make a model. One is a reference file, one is a skeletal animation file, and another is a collision model. If animations are needed, each animation sequence is its own SMD file.

Then a .qc file is made which references the needed files for the model, and the qc file is loaded into the SDK model compiler, making it usable in Valve Hammer Editor and whichever game you want it to run in.

I use XSI because it is what was used for Valves official maps.

This XSI Mod Tool sounds pretty nifty, I might give it a whirl.

And by the looks of your EMV it looks pretty detailed, and looks 10x better than something that hammer could do.
