    'Slumdog' kids headed to Disneyland

    By Adam Townsend

The kids who appeared in the Oscar-winning “Slumdog Millionaire” are planning to visit Disneyland after last night’s Academy Awards show.

They are coming today. The India Times, as well as the Telegraph out of the United Kingdom report that the kids are visiting. The film utilized the acting of a number of children, casted from impoverished Mumbai neighborhoods, to play the main characters at different stages in their youth.

Disney Spokesman John McClintock told us the kids have “made very clear that this is not a working visit,” so media isn’t invited.

That said, McClintock told us Disney photographers will be taking photos and sending us information about the kids’ trip later this afternoon.

      Awesome - good for them!

Surely if you're visiting this country, and especially if you're visiting California,
      you have to see Disneyland!

They'll have some great memories to take home with them.

Someone needs to tell them about Fastpass!!

Someone needs to steer them away from the giant slum park!!!

                    LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

It’s been a whirlwind few days for the children of "Slumdog Millionaire," which Sunday scooped the Best Picture Oscar.

In the four days the children have spent in the U.S., the young stars have been swarmed by paparazzi, met idols including Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, and partied the night away after their film’s eight Oscar wins.

But they’ve also had some amusement park fun.

Tanay Hermant Chheda, Tanvi Ganesh Lonkar, Ashutosh Lobo Gajiwalan, Rubiana Ali, Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail Sheik and Ayush Mahesh Khedekar made their first ever trip to Universal Studios on Friday, checking out the rides and movie making action. And on Monday, the six youngsters headed to Disneyland, where they rubbed elbows with Disney stars, including Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

On Tuesday, the group will return to India, where celebrations are being planned for the movie’s Oscar wins.

Film stars Rubiana and Azharuddin actually live in the slums of Mumbai, and are expected to return there after their stateside visit.

They are reportedly being paid a monthly stipend from the film’s producers for their work in the movie. They also have trust funds set up, which they will reportedly receive after graduating from school.

On one hand it's very nice for them...but also makes it harder to go back to the slum, stipend or not. At least they have a way out when they are grown up if they use the trust funds right.
