  • [Question] There's a hole in the castle...

    ...dear 'liza, dear 'liza...

I did a search and didn't find anything, so pardon if this has come up.

I've noticed, since they took the Christmas decorations down off the castle, that there is a hole in the castle now. Anyone know why? And, more importantly, why it hasn't been filled in yet?

    Photo, for reference:

I've been seeing that for years now. Pretty sure it has nothing to do with the Christmas decor.

Well, I figured it had nothing to do with the Christmas stuff, but I've never seen it before. Let me go through my pictures...

SO i looked at my photo archives because I have to take like 20 photos of the castle every time I go and that's usually once or twice a month and the first time the hole shows up IS in fact after the Xmas decorations were removed this year... I cant believe I didn't notice til now...

It is relatively new, first appeared some time in January.

              I checked my photos.

              From late 2006:

              From April 2007:

              March 2008:

September 2008 (right before the Christmas decorations went up):

And yet, since the Christmas decorations have come off the castle, there has been a hole. So, my original questions still stand: why, and why isn't it fixed?

Perhaps it's a doorway so Mickey's cousins (who are actual mouse size) get in?

It wouldn't be nice if he left his extended family stay out in the cold.

I guess the shadows that have always been there have caused my illusion that the hole, too, has always been there. Looking at the pictures, it seems the holiday decor does have to do with it? strange... can't find any reason why though.

And it's not a Swiss castle, so we can't use that excuse...

Hmm... well, if it's only a few months old, it may have been put in with the Castle Walkthrough. Perhaps ventilation or something.

Why there, though? Wouldn't ventilation holes be better suited on the top of the structure, as opposed to the side?

The front of the castle is one of THE most photographed places in the whole friggin world! You would think a hole like that, whatever its purpose, would be averted from such a high profile location in favor of a lower profile one.

I guess they needed a way to get the creme filling in, cause you know... it's a Bavarian castle.

(I'd say something serious if I had an answer. But, if I had the answer, I wouldn't need to ask. So, I pass the time...)

That would be the 17th hole of the third shift CMs' annual golf tournament.
