  • Trip Report Some pictures, comments and mini-adventures from a recent visit

    Enjoy.

    DLR: Mar. 23, 2009

This visit didn't stand out in particular, but was good fun all around, with most of the usual good stuff going on. The only things missing were a parade in DL (this a few days shy of the Celebrate! A Street Party premiere) and Fantasmic!. The motive was a pre-blackout visit and to see Remember... before it goes the way of Yesterland, and of course, just to go to the parks. Didn't get as many around-the-park pictures this time as on some previous visits, because I have a lot already.

The day started off by meeting our very own Light Mouse at the tram...and fortunately the subject of APs came up, thanks to which I realized I didn't have mine. Better here, where it was a quick run back to the car where I'd left it, rather than two additional trips on the tram and lots of wasted time otherwise. Thank you

The busy-ness factor was around 3 but not more than 3+, using my 1-5 scale; seems about right for a near-Spring-Break Monday. Oh, and for LM: the Buzz scores ('cause you wondered if I was riding it) were 686.1k/13th, 970k/10th, 667.6k/63rd, and 885.5k/33rd.)

    Off with their heads!

Oh well, there goes that idea...

Pirates and Mansion are the only two rides I've ridden on every visit to the park during which they were open. Occasionally, for a few black moments, I'd considered purposely forgoing them so I wouldn't feel tied down to them on every visit keeping the "streak" going. Maybe not so black after all: it really isn't that big a deal anymore. I'll see.

But not this day: I ended up on both.

What's "honey"? Never heard of it...

These are pretty darn good BTW. This was enjoyed over at:

More photo-documentation took place, although (despite being fairly uncrowded) there were enough people at the time to make it somewhat difficult.

    ----------------
There's a seeming disparity in what demographics stuffed toys are being directed at.

Just for "kids" now...no longer for "kids of all ages"?

Some still are. Or maybe this variant of these tags are the more recent. This isn't something I've paid a lot of attention to, but I hadn't seen the "kids" [only] variant before.

    ----------------

I saw ASIMO for the first time

This is the main reason I wouldn't want a wired house operated by a centralized computer. Wanna deal with a house that "crashes"? This is a certainty if it's based on common PCs and over-complex operating systems.

    ----------------

    Wishing...

    ----------------
    DCA for a while

There wasn't any of the squirting water on everybody as usual, because it wasn't hot probably, and I barely realized it. Goes to show just how un-memorable to me this aspect of the parade is. I don't hate it outright; it just seems unnecessary and meaningless.

    ----------------
    Lots of unrushed time here

I've said it before, but...these rope walkways are serious fun.

Let's challenge ASIMO to a game of follow-the-leader

    ----------------

    ----------------
    Back to the 'land

    "Remember..." from near Small World
I was--once again--on the Matterhorn when it started. But I was planning to watch from over here anyway. There was a pleasant surprise in store for watching RDCT from here: the way-cool video projections on the Small World facade.

    ----------------
Time to cash in the big-white-ride-that's-lots-of-fun fastpass. In the past I had avoided the front rows (1 and 4) because once I had had a good deal of trouble because of less space. (Not exactly "Space" Mountain?) It's hard to communicate in there because it's noisy, which could lead to a very negative situation, but so far hadn't. But by this visit, after many more rides, I had been doubting whether 1 and 4 would really be a problem. This time I had a chance to try it again, and accepted 4. Fortunately, as I thought: no trouble at all. So this is officially a "safe" ride altogether. Not sure why there was trouble that first time, unless some trains are different.

Closed out the day with the second of two rounds of Small World.

I have about all the closeups I need, so here's a wide shot...

    ...and the oft-neglected left side.

This really needs to be cleaned up. It's worse than it looks in this picture and isn't exactly good show. Of course there are other places like this but not as messy as this is.

The "hour ringer" was still on leave

    Goodriddance--errr--Goodnight.

Thought you'd like that--your husband has an envious job. Having an interest in horticultural things, these sorts of things certainly aren't unnoticed by the likes of me, even if they're not always photograhed.

Just one more almost identical to the one I posted--took two just in case. It's too bad that space is going unused. That and the Space Mountain terrace and Starcade upper level being under-utilized too.
