  • [Fun] Old Newspaper Story: Forgotten Man Takes Photo At Disneyland

My stepfather, who works in a library, found this story in the archives of the Santa Maria Times.

    11/30/1960

Forgotten Man Takes Photo At Disneyland

When the Tennessee Ernie Ford family visited Disneyland recently, a young lady of 10 or 11 years old spied the TV star and nervously asked whether he would mind if someone took their picture together. When Ernie said yes, the young lady handed her camera to a man conversing with another group of people, asking if he would take the picture.

The gentleman obliged, snapped the picture, handed back the camera and walked away with his party.

As the young lady thanked Ford profusely, he asked if she didn't also want a picture of the kindly gentleman who had just held her camera. "I didn't even see him," the 10-year old sighed contentedly. "He was just the nearest man I could find to take my picture with you!"

"That man you didn't even see," Ford responded, "was Walt Disney!"

What a lucky day for the little girl. It's rare that a person accidentally runs into one icon at disneyland ..let alone, two. That Walt was a sneaky pete!

HaHaHaHa! That's great. If I were the girl, I'd done the total opposite. Then again I'd do the opposite with any old Imagineer.
