  • [Question] Submarine Voyage Control Area

When I rode the origional Subs back in 94 I was in awe with the ride and watched the "capton" operate the ride above me.
But now that I am a real Geek I was wondering if there are images of what the view is like for the operator up above the water be it the controlls or the view of the ride above the water I just cant seem to find any footage anywhere be it a photo or video. If you have any or ether please post here!

Poor? Yes. Money? Forget about it, I got none! If I had it, I wouldn't for long, I want too much stuff!
Disneyland for me is my absolute favorite place on earth, So I am the oddest werewolf you ever will meet.

^That is an awesome photo Nautilus! Thanks for sharing that one.

Our revels now are ended. These our actors, As I foretold you, were all spirits and Are melted into air, into thin air: And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces, The solemn temples, the great globe itself, Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff As dreams are made on, and our little life Is rounded with a sleep. mycroft16 on Twitter

Even though it's not the Anaheim subs, this shot shows the controls for the WDW 20K submarines, which I assume are very similar to the DL ones:

(It's actually appears quite roomy compared to the DL subs!)

Except for the panel with the WDW logo on it (Ours had only the forward/backward toggle lever), looks pretty much like our old sub control pod, circa 1989.

Fantastic link Nautilus ~ I savored every detail in it. Thanks so much for posting it.

What a shame the subs are gone. It must have added a real ambiance to the Magic kingdom just like they do at DLR. And it sucks that I never got to see them

                    Re: Submarine Voyage Control Area

I once had the unique opportunity to ride on the operator's platform with him (before it became Nemo). I wish I remembered more about what I saw. Mostly I was just thinking "boy, we sure are cozy up here!" It's a tiny little space . What I remember most is once you're inside the show building - it was mostly just black, and I was a little irritated that I was missing the actual ride. I figured it was probably an opportunity I wouldn't get again, though, and it is a fun memory every time I go on it now. Even though I don't remember much.

I dug through my vast library and found a shot of inside a DL sub conning tower, from the The "E" Ticket Magazine
